The fact that console games are a little harder to patch might mean the squashing of most of the bugs that plagued the PC releases, which would be nice.

I wonder if you ever played the Enhanced Edition. I'm 10 hours into the game and I've yet to find a bug.

The PC version of The Witcher is stupendous and I'm loving every second of it so far, having just picked up the enhanced edition on the cheap from Amazon earlier on this week.

I suspect that the console versions won't be anywhere near as good but we'll see. The screenshots look decent enough though...

I stopped playing PC games ages ago, and my main regret is the loss of this sort of game.

I utterly loved Gothic 1 and 2 (flaws and all) but my PC wouldn't be up to Gothic 3 or Witcher Enhanced Edition (I think it is fair to forgive Witcher's previous ills now the enhanced editions seems to have sorted almost all of them).

I get a warm nostalgic feeling looking at screens for this game.

@eddiep - I've been playing The Witcher E.E. for around ten hours too and although it is 100% stable, I have encountered one nasty bug.

The bug in question occurred when I was speaking to the Reverend outside the chapel in Chapter I. I had to earn the trust of three people in order to get a pass to enter the city. To do that the Reverend was supposed to give me an Eternal Fire ring which I was to show to these people to convince them that the Reverend had sent me. Because my inventory was full, when the dialogue ended I found I didn't actually have the ring at all.

Once that conversation is over you cannot go through it again so I was unable to continue with the game, although I didn't realise this until four hours later! Fortunately, I always save the game with a fresh save so I was able to backtrack and finally reach Chapter II.

That aside, I've not seen any other glitches and the game is impeccably presented and otherwise very polished with decent voice-acting, a great storyline and interesting characters. It's certainly taught me never to pre-judge a game just because it was coded in Poland. I honestly thought this game would be as bad as Two Worlds but it's much, much, much better than that travesty (I endured the 360 version!).

Darren: Sorry to hear about this bug. It's a weird one, because the ring should've been a quest item; quest items have their own separate inventory slots, never taken up by barghest skulls and the like.
Anyway, I just realized I'll probably need to replay about one hour, because the Hot Potato quest can't be completed unless you do it before you talk to the detective at the very beginning of Chapter 2 :) so you're not the only one having to spend more time with the game (not like this is a punishment).

Looks good. But none of my console owning friends would appreciate a game like this. Most actually think Fallout 3 was too complex!

Does anyone have any news on the MMO from these guys? Can't find anything on it. Cheers.

@eddiep - Well when I got the ring, it didn't appear as a quest item but a normal inventory one. The reason I presume is because it has to be equipped like any other ring would be in order to use the "Show ring" icon during conversations.

Hey, I'm from Poland and I even applied for a job at CD Projekt, they didn't respond, though. Anyway, I finished the first version on PC when it came out. I had a blast. One of the best RPGs I've played this millenium. I can't wait for console version to play through it again.

From the screenshots it looks a bit like Fable but, dare I say it, actually better! Looking forward to this
