New WipEout PSP pack on PC Store News

PSP PlayStation 3 News by Tom Bramwell

21 February, 2008

It's all aboard the shame train at Sony HQ as this week's PSN Store update is almost entirely devoid of interesting new goodies. Choo-choo.

The highlight is another WipEout Pulse download pack for PSP on the PC Store. Called the Harimau Pack, Sony has previously said that it includes a fast ship with good handling, a subterranean track called Orcus White and a North African effort called Gemini Dam Black. You pays yer GBP 2.99 / EUR 3.99, you get that.

Otherwise, there's a Lost Planet demo for PS3, which is presumably identical to the US one that recently went live. Read more about it elsewhere.

Finally, there's a selection of Devil May Cry 4 wallpapers and a "Sports" theme for PS3 owners, along with trailers for Conflict: Denied Ops and Assassin's Creed, and a Worms 2 theme for PSP owners.

As the first comment on ThreeSpeech predicts: "Moan, moan, moan. Moan, moan, moan." What about PAIN, Sony? Where's that?

Indeed. Sony where the hell IS PAIN?

Riff: Everyday Shooter is great, but the waiting took a tiny bit of the joy away from it. The anticipation built and built and left me mildly disappointed, at first at least.

I absolutely concur with this.

I would honestly love to know what the delay on R:ES really was. Clearly, it wasn't the much touted 'localisation' as there isn't any. So why therefore the 4 (5?) month delay?

Yeah, digital releases, especially when they're small downloads, should be simultaneous worldwide. The only explanation i can think of that doesn't involve incompetence or laziness is that they deliberately try to time all their releases, digitally distributed or otherwise, to maximize sales.

I love Pulse, but I'm anti-pay-DLC. I like to pay for my games up-front, the old fashioned way ;)

So, no, not this time thanks! :)
