New Turning Point demo on Live News

Xbox 360 News by Ellie Gibson

24 January, 2008

A new demo for Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is now available for download from Xbox Live Marketplace, weighing in at 1.2GB.

Turning Point is a first-person shooter set in an alternate 1950s New York. At the start of the game, the Third Reich launches an attack on the US by blowing up the Statue of Liberty.

You play as construction worker Dan Carson and your first mission is to not die when the skyscraper you're working on gets hit. Then there are incoming paratroopers to contend with and the task of saving the rest of New York from Nazi invasion like that episode of Seinfeld with the soup.

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is out on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 this "quarter". For a full preview, pics and videos, visit the gamepage.

Yeah, pretty ugly with horrible stick sensitivity. COD4 ruins other games!

this looks awful, well that's unfair. I think it just suffers from being ugly and generic. I saw the producer on TV, he looked a bit beaten "Our game is just a good solid shooting game" the way he said itl, it was almost as if he was saying "hey kids, after you have purchased all the triple A games next year, if you see this cheap, you might not hate it"

The community manager asked for feedback in the forum and although it was praised as having some great ideas the execution is a bit lacking unfortunately and with a month to go it's doubted they can tweak it. :(
Shame as it is a great concept for a game.

I have to agree with all of the above, its only just better than Hour Of Victory. Nice idea for a game too, this could have been something quite special. Oh well, maybe in the sequel eh....

I think Epic should start being a little more selective over who they pimp the Unreal Engine to.

For farks sake, they really need to hold this back and re-evaluate. They'll probably lose more money releasing it...

Embarrassing, to have downloaded it expecting a solid game based on a great premise, its bad, the ending of the demo is laughable with a quite pixellated bitmap for smoke in the distance, and then proper volumetric smoke in the fore ground. You seen this? You know its bad!

Embarrased for the devs, publishers and heck the platforms the title will be appearing on. They should do Timeshift it, give it another year, new dev and it should turn out better than the disaster it is at moment.

Am I the only one that really enjoyed this then, having completed the demo at least three times now, and really looking forward to the final game.

It reminds me of a first person Freedom Fighters due to its premise.

I'd pay handsomely for a latest-gen version of Freedom Fighters - it was a real hidden gem on the Xbox. Sadly the devs just did Kane & Lych: Dead In The Water instead.

If ever there was a game that could really shine on these new systems it's FF. Only with bigger, more detailed cities and stacks more teams of armed men running around, doing your bidding. (And no bloody solo missions!)

Well, I can but hope...

Oh, er, and as for Turning Point: had mediocre hopes, sounds like its fulfilled them.

its a real surprise to me how many xb360 shooters have terribly mapped controls and a crap fps - i mean if any of these devs in the last 4 months have happend to play cod4 why dont they say cut! we need to start again the new bench has just been set and we are so far below it we can even see the edge!

I've just turned on the demo, and I thought 'this is great' at the intro, was less impressed when I turned the right thumb stick, and now am downright unhappy that the fall distance is however far you'd survive regardless of distance. I wanted to go crashing down to the traffic straight away.
