New Tomb Raider trailer
Happy Anniversary.
Looks like it's time to test Ian Livingstone's claim that you'll be "drooling" at the sight of the new Lara Croft, with the first trailer for Tomb Raider: Anniversary up on Eurogamer TV.
Showing off Lara's younger look, with Keeley Hawes purring over the top and dinosaurs and jumping and all sorts, the trailer's certainly a tempting glimpse of Crystal Dynamics' follow-up to the surprisingly good Legend earlier this year.
And you won't have to go far afterward for more on Tomb Raider, of course, as you can just sidestep in the direction of the latest episode of The Eurogamer TV Show, where Livingstone gushes as we celebrate 10 years of Tomb Raider, along with the recent Wii launch and other excitements.

I never had a PSX, so I never experienced the Tomb Raider series first hand other than a quick go on the PC demo of the original, but I do remember the game's cultural impact...the main thing this trailer reminds me of is that Lara Croft Lucozade advert, which is pretty unprecedented before or since. It's stuff like that earns the character a place in the pantheon of gaming legends though, and as such, it's good to see the series back in good health.
Now if only I could say the same for Sonic...

Hopefully this looks like they're going in the right direction.
Sure it'll be a disappointment though, thought the last one was a bit pants from what I played of it.

I didn't think he was referring to this version, more to the yet unseen 'proper next-gen' game.

Hope so, because in reference to this game, it's a bit confusing why he'd say that.

Seriously though, I hope it does not come with the grid-like controls. I enjoyed the freedom of Legends without having to walk to an edge, take 2 steps backwards and do exactly that because every pixel in either way resulted in jumping too short.
Then again maybe that is was people do want to see because those were the mechanics of the original titles.

Please just be the original with prettier graphics... The save system from TR2 onwards spoilt us!

No chance. It'll be the same dumbed-down, lightweight, over-in-9-hours tat that Legend was, once you got past the shiny graphics.
[mug]I'll still buy it, though[/mug]

Shame not on 360, but it will be nice for PSP to have a potentially decent game.
As long as the grid system is gone and the graphics are nice, not much can really go wrong, TR1 was a good game.
