New Silent Hill this September

Now known as Homecoming.

Konami has said Silent Hill: Homecoming will be released in Europe this September.

That's the new name for Silent Hill V in case you didn't know, and you should because we just told you. It's also the sixth instalment in the series, which is confusing.

Homecoming follows Alex Shepherd around as he ventures to Silent Hill in search of his missing brother. Everything soon goes a bit pear-shaped and Alex has to unravel his nightmares to solve the mystery and save the day.

This is the first of the Silent Hill series to appear on the new consoles, so it's boasting terrifyingly real graphics and an eerie soundtrack by Akira Yamaoka.

We're also promised a fresh combat system that has counters and an assortment of attacks.

Pop over to our Silent Hill: Homecoming gamepage for the first shots and trailers.

    On PS3 it is called Silent Hill: Homecoming in 2009 we hope...
  • gooners2006 #5 4 years ago

    cool i like a game that makes me shit my pants lol
  • ZuluHero #6 4 years ago

    as a huge silent hill fan i can only hope that the collective don't screw it up (more so than The Room could ever do)

    @benno
    My gut instint tells me that your hope is probably misplaced, Unless you liked the buffy the vampire games and their ilk? There was nothing wrong with those games, but i fail to see how they can capture what made Silent hill so magical...

    @Bertie

    At least you made me laugh.

    It'll be wank if Silent Hill 0 is anything to go on... I live in hope... but not much...

    Is the PS2 version of Origins ever coming out in europe?
  • Darth_Flibble #10 4 years ago

    The Collective don't have a good track record of games, their buffy game was good apart from the fucking infamous "dreamers" level, Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb was good but quite buggy iirc. After that their games have been shite. I really hope this SH game is good but the developers seem to think silent hill is about combos and fighting

    Looks wanko.

    Only impressed by the random "lady parts" doorway on this screenshot:

    Lady parts that look like that are enough to base a full horror adventure game on I reckon!
    Scared me anyways...

    The fact that your character in 5 or Homecoming or whatever... has control of the transitions between the normal world and the dark world immediately ruins what Silent Hill is all about.

    Your meant to feel like your trapped in an inescapable nightmare where nothing is under your control and nothing is as it seems...

    Sure giving the playing control over this might sound 'interesting' on paper, but it just goes against what Silent Hill has always been fundamentally about.

    halfway through the current gen, it has to be much better than average...

    First western developed game in the series too, so no idea of what the quality will be.

    Hopefully, it'll be just like 2, and I'll love it. All the video footage I've seen's certainly pointed towards it being brilliant...

    Is the PS2 version of Origins ever coming out in europe?

    It's due on the 16th May, and IMO, Origins on PSP is as good as you could expect a PSP Silent Hill to be.
  • Bulbatron #17 4 years ago

    M83JO1P97, are you sure you're not confusing this with Silent Hill Origins? I'm pretty sure that is the game in which you can transfer between dark and not-so-dark Silent Hill at will. I haven't played Origins, but I've repeatedly heard this stated about that game.

    I haven't heard anything to suggest this is possible in Silent Hill Homecoming.

    From the newest videos, I think this looks great, and I'm choosing to be optomistic unless I'm proved wrong WHEN THE GAME IS RELEASED, rather than just assuming it will be crap. Whenever I go to dedicated Silent Hill forums, I end up wanting to hang myself. They're full of people whining about EVERY LAST DETAIL about the game. Some of it is possibly valid, but most of it is just pathetic.

    Anyway, screw them. I'm really looking forwards to Silent Hill Homecoming, and hopefully, I will soon be able to play Silent Hill Origins on my PlayStation 2.

    sanctusmortis - Silent Hill Origins was western developed too. And they did a great job on it.

    Yamaoka is involved in all of them and is still scoring them, so that is good.

    As a big SH fan (I even liked The Room) I really want to see this turn out well. However I just can't help but worry about The Collective, I know they did a decent job on Origins but it was VERY similar to the previous games and to be honset what the series really needs is some fresh ideas. Fresh ideas that don't ruin the feel and atmosphere of the SH world(S)

    Like others have said, The Collective don't have the best track-record. This will have to be their best games by a considerable distance to satisfy SH fans (myself included).

    What I want to know though is, what are original developers Team Silent working on these days?
  • Hunam #22 4 years ago

    The Collective didn't make Origins. People need to check their facts. As far as Origins goes, the game didn't seem bad, but nothing is really being added to the Silent Hill story/world.
  • Mashum #23 4 years ago

    I can see the design meeting at Collective...

    " Scary Hospital - check
    Sexy Zombie Nurses - check
    Fog - check
    Flashlight clipped to breast pocket - check
    Bits of floor made out of rusty metal fencing - check
    Great. Bob, can we add anything to this fantastic IP?"

    "Uuummm... Quick Time Events?"

    embargo
    c.1593, from Sp. embargo "seizure, embargo," noun of action from embargar "restrain impede," from V.L. *imbarricare, from in- "into, upon" + *barra (see bar).

  • eepic #26 4 years ago

    I'm afraid they're - COCK! - playing it safe and not going to try out anything drastically new.. FUCK!! Same old enemies, nurses etc. Game is - CUNT FUCKING SHIT SANTA! - probably a 8/10. Most likely I will end up - TITTYFUCKING BEAVER VOMIT!!! - buying it anyway, even if - KIKE NIGGER SPICK CRACKA!! WHORE PEDOPHILES EATING SPIDERS!!!! - it's not as good as Silent Hill 2 was.
  • absolutezero #27 4 years ago

    In the old Silent Hill games the nurses were certainly very sexualised you would still never go near them though, they looked off. Broken if you will.

    In SH5 the nurses look like super-models with paper bags over their heads.

    That basically sums up everything about SH5.
  • Meho #28 4 years ago

    Alll the images I've seen of SHV just look too clean and sharp to communicate the proper SH mood. Grainy, misty, smudgy, that's what Silent Hill looks like in my head whenever I think about it. Not saying thatthis will automatically make the game crap, but I DO have my worries.
  • arcanis22 #29 4 years ago

    @Hunam
    I checked my facts and your quite rght The Collective didn't make Origins. In my defense I don't actually own a PSP I played the game on a friends PSP. This fact just increases my worries about Homecoming but I wont give up hope till I've played it.
  • Commodore75 #30 4 years ago

    I just hope they will be doing some "Ultimate Collector's Box" roundup in preparations for this one.
    'Cause the old games are *hard* to find.
  • arcanis22 #31 4 years ago

    @Commodore75
    The old games can be extremely hard to find if your looking at shops. However you can usually pick them up on eBay for a reasonable price.
