New PopCap Arcade coming to XBLA News

Xbox 360 News by Ellie Gibson

4 March, 2009

PopCap Arcade Vol. 2 is coming to Xbox Live Arcade on 31st March, according to Gamespot.

It'll include three PopCap titles, and topping the bill is hit puzzler Peggle. It's already a big hit with PC gamers, having been downloaded 45 million times - read our review to find out what all the fuss is about.

The compilation also includes Heavy Weapon, which previously scored a very respectable 8/10 here on Eurogamer, and Feeding Frenzy 2, which didn't.

Peggle is also due to arrive on iPhone this month, and on DS in the US - we're checking on release dates.

Peggle isn't that good. No wait, I'm thinking of being stabbed. Peggle is one of the most strangely addictive games in the history of addictive games. I'll probably have that, though the combination of Peggle and Achievements might have me so stuck to my 360 I'll soil myslef, but heh.

Why do I love Peggle so much? A question every gamer has asked themselves while the notion of hardcore gamer vs casual gamer melts into a pile of turd, fertilizing the fields of gaming unity.

Yay for Peggle!

Boo for Feeding Frenzy...

Meh to Heavy Metal!

They need to be sold individually though. I want Peggle but absolutely will not part with cash to receive Feeding Frenzy.

Please please please let Peggle have the two player option intact and be able to do it over live that would make me purchase it again (already have it on PC steam)

Wow, sincere & serious tall people? That sounds like a hoot and a holler...

Peggle's crap, there's minimal skill and strategy, it's mildly infuriating, it has stupid-looking unicorns and it completely takes over the life of anyone who dares go near it. Can't wait to do it all again!

Was Feeding Frenzy ever offered for free? I think I have the full version but can't remember ever parting with money to get it, as it's essentially completely toilet.

This isn't coming to XBLA as the story for some reason states, it's coming to a shop in a box where you have to open it and put a disk into your Xbox. That's why there's three games at once.

The games are all on XBLA individually, however. (Or will be, when Peggle is released later this month.)

Well they lose a sale if they expect me to pay for a game that is shit and a game I already have to get Peggle.

Feeding Frenzy is a great game for kids as it goes. My two loved it. Not much replay once you've gone through it though. It certainly got more playtime than Heavy Weapon in our household.

It's lucky they don't expect you to then, isn't it. Ellie just screwed up this story beyond all facts.

BBIAJ: "Erm, where's the first volume then?"

It's been out for ages. You should have probably checked before making an idiot of yourself :)

That's not Popcap Arcade Vol.1. PAv1 came out in America only, and featured Bejeweled 2, Zuma, Astro Pop and Feeding Frenzy. Except for having Bejewelled 2 in common, it has nothing to do with Live Arcade Unplugged.

Lol.

Calm down, love.

If you researched this even a little before posting you'd note that this news story relates to the US release of Popcap Arcade vol. 2. No European release appears to be planned as yet. EUROgamer, eh?

Peggle is addictive because of the sound. Notes that rise up a major scale as you hit more and more pegs with a single ball and Ode to Joy when you finish, it's like auditory masturbation.

It is digital crack. People do look at you odd when they catch you playing it, though. Can't really get away with playing a game with lots of sparkles and colours and unicorns on the train.

Indeed PearOfAnguish, indeed...

As for this bundle, I'd rather have Heavy Weapon on the Arcade Hits list on XBLA. As with many old XBLA titles... oh well.

Peggle is £1.28 on PC currently. May as well give it a try for that price, it's an impossible experience to describe, it seems!

Popcap

"Enter the code blitz1 for a further 50% off which makes it a measly £1.28. Can install upto five times on multiple machines too."

(Thanks rllmukforum/GAF)
