"The patches are available for download now via Xbox 360 and PSN"

via the console, or the online service? You can't use both.

Well, we had some party games last night and everyone seemed to survive without too many problems! The main problem we had was finding people to play against!

Just played gta race and death match. No problems/changes I could see. DM is still played by mostly thick sounding yanks talking about 911,Bush (the pres not the other!) and how big their dicks are. I had to leave in the end, but not before singing God save the queen! and I hate royalty.

"The main problem we had was finding people to play against!"

I've played every single GTA and loved every one, from release and have been crying out for official multiplayer support since about the time of my first GOURANGA! Now we have it - and with a plethora of options to boot - and I find myself disinterested in it. I spend all my time playing the story. I must have only wanted it so much because it wasn't there, I guess.

Or maybe I was slightly spoiled by the Crackdown co-op, which just seemed a little more fun, if also a little more laggy - this GTA seems a little more restrictive than San Andreas - it just doesn't seem to encourage experimentation and messing around. Unlike Crackdown, which was fun just leaping about throwing cars and lamp-posts at each other. Or making huge piles of cars which you then blew up.

Good news! If this works, I'll be back in Liberty City playing with the boys without wishing to kill everyone (and not in a gaming sense...) Lost connections are this year's tearing.

I have tried connecting to multiplayer games a few times, never had any success. I hope this will fix it, but GTA IV still does not strike me as a game anyone would play "seriously" online, for long periods of time I mean, like Battlefield or something. It's mostøly there for the novelty effect, isn't it? A "Try once and then get on with it" type affair?

I would still like to try it just the once, tho. Hope this patch wil make a difference.

Unrelated but where the hell is this GRID 360 patch that was promised like THREE weeks ago? By the time it's released no-one will be playing the damn game anymore! /tuts at Codemasters

P.S. Are these patches the same size for both the PS3 and 360 versions because I have both games and the PS3 patch at 19 MB took well over a minute, possibly two to download and install. The 360 one took around 20 seconds! :o

i hope they fix the error "can't play with silver account" :p

P.P.S. GTA IV has an ONLINE mode?!? Crikey... never realised... been far too busy playing the single player to even check! LOL

Actually no, if you get in a good party with some friends, you can spend an entire evening mixing and matching the gametypes and generally having a shitload of fun!

@bioreit: The having fun and just messing around thing that happens in Crackdown doesn't really apply in GTA, unless you're playing Free mode - the other modes all have goals and tasks, so it's more focused than Crackdown (that doesn't necessarily mean it's more fun, just different).

Have they fixed the 60gb freeze problem yet?
  • monkie_king #13 4 years ago

I thought there was already a patch for that, about a week after release?
  • AJUK #14 4 years ago

I wish they would release a patch to fix the save-game bug :( I'm stuck with no missions after 'Pest Control' and I'm not the only one.
  • beastmaster #15 4 years ago

have they fixed the missions not kicking in bug? Spend 55 hours in the damn thing and no final missions, despite trying everything. Not played it since and doubt if I ever will. Shame.

Downloaded the patch and played last night. Didn't notice any difference in connections I still spend the majority of my time staring at loading screens, rebooting the game, rebooting the PS3, trying to find a game with enough people in and about 5% of my GTA time actually playing although there's a good chance I won't reach the end of a game before being banged out.
