New ME2 costumes tomorrow
For Jack, Thane and Garrus.
BioWare's offering a new set of costumes for Mass Effect 2 tomorrow alongside the known-about Firewalker DLC.
This Alternate Appearance Pack costs 160 Microsoft Points (£1.36/€1.86) on Xbox 360 and 160 BioWare Points (£1.23) on PC, and brings spring outfits for Jack, Garrus and Thane.
The colour palette is still black and grey, but Jack looks sleek in a new visor and Thane personifies cool with some shades.
Tomorrow's Firewalker DLC brings the hovering Hammerhead tank into play. This, unlike the costumes, will be free, and offer-up five new Hammerhead-suitable missions.

Still, just because it's not for me doesn't mean it's like that for everyone.

Edit : only just noticed you have to pay for these. Seems odd when a major dlc component is free but something as trivial as costumes arn't.

There does need to be DLC with an extended (tiny casual conversation spoiler) session of Mordin singing GILBERT AND SULLIVAN though.

All the alternate costumes were a bit weak in ME2, in fact most of them seemed to just be pallete swaps of the originals. Luckliy the rest of the game kicked ass.

Same! And yes, charging for these uninspiring wardrobe changes is disappointing.

Glad to see that the good stuff is still free though. The best game of 2010 so far seems to be getting some of the best DLC and most of it is free. How can you grumble at that?

Doesnt matter. Its just side missons added on your galaxy map.

It's only as bad as avatar clothes really... But these outfits (much like the secondary sets in the main game) should offer armour/stat bonuses or at least a substantial cosemetic difference...

As I understand it, Kasumi will be paid-for DLC and not CN content. From now on, they should (and probably will) release armour and weapons via CN and more substantial content as seperate packs. As of the Hammerhead missions they will have already released enough content for free to make the Cerberus Network (proportionally) better value than Awakenings...

Not alone - I've yet to finish it, whereas I finished the first game in a weekend - but there are very few people that I've seen that would agree.
Personally I missed the RPG tropes that were gutted - inventory, exploration, customisation etc. but most people seem to agree those are all improvements.
Edit: and regarding this DLC - yes, it's as bad as horse armour, which at the time was so bad it became a meme. Now paid content like that is so common it's not even worth laughing at anymore.

Huh? It is the other way around.

It does seem all future DLC for ME2 will be payed. If it is new missions and characters, I will hand over my MS points. But I think it is strange the release payed character outfits so long after the games release.
Agree with Seabeast if only Shepard took her/his helmet off during dialogue, I would have used the special armour much more.

I'm with you. I loved ME1, I think I played it 3 or 4 times, but ME2 just doesn't do it for me. I used to like changing ammo and mods on mine and my squads guns for each situation, and seeing stats for weapons I can equip. I liked finding things everywhere too, I hardly find anything in this version. Except fucking heatsinks, whoever decided to limit ammo in this game should be hung up by thier balls.
I hate that planet scanning too, it's more boring than the Mako, driving your little ship around the galaxy map is also rubbish, and the shitty wireframe loading screens are much less interesting than moving the camera around your squad to look at Tali's arse when in the elevator.
I don't think it's a bad game, it's just that ME1 was an easy 10/10, but so far this is struggling to get past a 7 for me.

It was amusing in the bar scenes too - somehow I poisoned myself by splashing a drink over the front of my helmet.
@Bob'sUncle: To me it felt like instead of improving the things people thought were weak in the first game, they just got rid of them. Nothing much to find on planets? Get rid of the planets! Awkward inventory management? Get rid of the inventory! Guns were too similar? You only get one gun! When they said they'd addressed the problems of the first game that is not what I thought they meant...

I think you missed the point of the alternative costumes. They weren't "something different to wear at the weekend". The point was that they all matched each other. Your rag-tag bunch of guns for hire, assassins, crazy doctors and woman-with-a-nice-arse became a team, with a uniform.

This might be a ploy to try and shed some positive light on Project 10 Dollar.

Paid costumes have been around for years, no surprise. Sackboys have them all the time.
I wish we'd get a "go to the beach" pack with beach and Miranda in bikini
Comment below viewing threshold Show
I'm using a female Shepard, so a 'go to the beach' pack would get my money.
p.s. I'm working on some girl on girl action with Miranda, who I only take on missions because I love the shiny black PVC suit she wears.

Anyway, why the fuss of a cosmetic change for some characters. I can never understand why people feel the urge to complain about these things. They are clearly meant to be something fun. It won't impact your game having the new costumes, nor will not having the new costumes impact your game.
Overall, the 10 dollar project on ME2 has been very rewarding.

No.

Don't tell me I'll never get the lezzo scene with Miranda! I really don't want to have to screw Garrus.
You could do it in ME1 with Liara, don't make this another reason that ME1 was better.

Aww I wanted new outfits for Shepherd to wear on the Normandy, I don't really like any of the ones provided.
If we go by the way a friend of mine plays the game the only appropriate costume would be a bath robe that doesn't quite close.

I am indeed *this close* to boycotting this, since Bioware have stated they intend to listen closely to fan feedback since they merged with EA and adjust strategies to suit. Current releases for DA

That's just your twisted interpretation . It's not just all fun and games in my Cmdr Shepard's love loft.
Serious galaxy saving needs to be done too.
As for the DLC, not for me.
Good to see Jack put some clothes on, it would make the trip under the stairs less scary.
