PC PlayStation 2 Xbox GameBoy Advance PSP DS Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 Wii
News by Ellie Gibson

9 May, 2008

Activision has confirmed that a sequel to action RPG Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is on the way.

Apparently it'll be out later this year, but the publisher has yet to confirm an official title or state what platforms the game is in development for.

The original Marvel: Ultimate Alliance was released back in November 2006 on PC, all the PlayStation platforms, both Xboxes, Wii and even GBA.

Kristan quite liked the game, describing it as "essential for comic book obsessives and great fun for everyone else". Read his review for the full 7/10.

I liked the first one, however this time i hope they include everything from the off.

The villians & extra heroes DLC was in my opinion a real rip off as it should have just been included in the original version.

The original's a good game but bloody impossible to find anymore. The DLC was, and still is, a rip off and the 'Gold Edition' mentioned with all the DLC included was never even released as far as I could find.

@Bloodkult. Just as NumberNone says, if you don't mind importing, there is a gold version available from Play-Asia or even buy an expensive standard version from videogamesplus

I know that internet opinion is usually nonsense, but I have used both sites and they have been perfect the 8 or 9 times that I have used them.

I loved the first MUA game on the 360, played it right through to completion over a period of a few days, it was so bloody addictive. I'm a big fan of these sorts of games anyway, the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and X-Men games on the Xbox were also pretty cool. Dunno what makes them so compelling to be honest but there's just something about them that keeps me playing 'em right to the very end.

Liked it but, wanted more hero specific moves for each character. After the halfway point it felt like all my heroes had exactly the same moves but, with slightly different power levels. I think I went with Iron Man, Thor and spiderman as my core team.

The reason that the DLC came later was because Activion couldn't get the rights to certain guys like the Hulk, because at the time of the games release, they were owned by another company.

I'm not sure how any of this is going to work in a sequel considering the majority of the big Marvel heroes, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, are now liscenced to Sega. They can't possible do a new Ultimate Alliance without those guys.

As anyone who has seen my pleas for online play in the PS3 forum can attest, I want this. It should be awesome, although don't penalise me for switching team members this time. I'd like to switch in Iron Man now the movies out, but I'd lose some team XP, and I'm not using an upgrade to get another Roster slot when I can upgrade my teams Hp etc

Although no-one asked. Sorry, I blabber.

Sega have the rights to do games based on the movies, they dont have exclusive rights on the characters :)

Marvel has a load more heroes. Strangely enough, in Marvel: UA, I thought that Hulk, Doom, Iron Man and Thor were actually rubbish. Reed Richards, Captain America, Wolverine and Nick Fury are awesome.

I gasped when I seen this news. Theres a first time for everything.

I agree X-Men legends 1 & 2 and both the Baldurs Gate games on XBox + PS2 were awesome as was Marvel Ultimate Alliance; the best one.

I too enjoyed the first game on 360. Can't wait for this, just hope it has online co-op and less repetitive levels. Deadpool ftw.
