New Mario is coming, says Martinet News

DS Wii News by Ellie Gibson

19 October, 2009

Charles Martinet, the man who provides the voice of Mario, has said a new instalment in the series is on the way.

That's if a Twitter page purporting to belong to him is genuine - it looks authentic, anyway.

"Mama Mia!!!! I'm going to Seattle this week to record a new Mario game!" Martinet wrote on 10th October. Then, two days later: "Big day tomorrow! Seattle for a new Mario game! Yippee!!!"

But the most interesting message appeared over the weekend. "Awesome new Mario Game!" it reads. "And it's not NSMB Wii, and it's not Galaxy 2, but it's going to be crazy fun!"

Mama mia indeed. Nintendo has yet to comment on Martinet's message.

I dunno, there are a fair few Mario game spin offs. Could be a new Mario golf for example

Surely you only need to record "Yahoo", "Mama Mia" and "It's a me" once!

Must be great fun being a voice actor whose longest line literally is about 'Thanksa fora playing ma game!' or one of those gibberish Italian bits in the Mario and Luigi series.

I wonder how much he gets paid for it?

Perhaps it's Mass Mario Effect 3 and it's gonna, like, have thousands of lines of dialogue or something.

I wonder if Italians find Mario's overly stereotypical accent offensive.

It doesn't matter if it's a hoax or not, I think we can take it for granted that there will be at least another twenty games released for Wii and DS bearing Mario's name.

Why would it be a hoax? I don't think Martinet has anything to gain from pissing fans off.

"I wonder if Italians find Mario's overly stereotypical accent offensive. "

I'm half Italian and I love the accents of Mario, Wario, Waluigi et all.

btw I'd be more excited over a new Mario Party to play with my family than another Mario platformer.
