New LEGO Star Wars game

Complete Saga in November.

Activision is celebrating 30 years of Star Wars by releasing a new LEGO adventure.

The Complete Saga will feature action from all six films, and will be available on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS this November.

Traveller's Tales will be developing the games, which it claims will be the biggest and most expansive in the series. There'll be more than 160 characters to choose from, which will also be customisable, letting you swap torsos and heads to create your own hybrids. A Luke Amidala, or something. Isn't that some kind of incest?

New levels will be introduced, on top of revamped or unseen challenges from the previous games. And you'll be able to relish more Force Powers, use fresh power-ups, and tackle a new Challenge mode.

But the biggest addition will be two-player jump-in cooperative gameplay over the Internet on PS3 and Xbox 360 - the first time online's featured in the series. Wii and DS owners shouldn't despair, either, because Traveller's Tales is building unique versions for the Nintendo platforms from the ground up.

The first two games have sold more than seven million copies in the US alone, and received surprising critical applause - both earning an admirable 8/10 from Eurogamer. The tongue-in-cheek humour and fun gameplay make them hard to resist.

"LucasArts was an amazing partner on LEGO Star Wars II, and working with them on The Complete Saga continues to be a great experience," said Tom Stone, director at TT Games. "We're also thrilled to be focusing on next-generation consoles and creating content that plays to the strength of each system."

Dear god. Rehashing Star Wars games is becoming as prolific as rehashing Star Wars films.

Extended Director's Daughter's BluRay Cut Limited Edition Star Wars anyone?
  • Azazel #2 5 years ago

I was playing a lot of WoW at that time and needed something that was fun

    heh

Also: I welcome more Lego Star Wars.
  • Killerbee #3 5 years ago

So is this like a "Director's Cut" of the previous two games, plus a few extras, or something completely new from the ground up?

I never played either of the originals, so this is actually quite interesting. I hope they sort out light sabres on the Wii-mote. :D

Aye, I'm finding it hard to tell that also.

Make it £25 for the 360 version and you've got a deal.

I think if a game is well made and fun to play, I don't much mind whether it is perceived as a cash in or not.

I'd much rather have a well turned out piece of cynical marketeering than a heart felt pile of bollox.

It does sound like Activision are milking the LEGO Star Wars license for everything they can get. I'm sure it'll sell just as the other did but I cannot see how it will be anything other than a remixed compilation of the first two games really with a pointless online mode as they've covered pretty much every major event from all six movies already!!!

What does this mean? Are they going to be new games then, as opposed to the revamped existing ones?
  • kangarootoo #9 5 years ago

The thing that some people seem to be missing here is that for people who have played the games before this release may be pointless, a rehash, revamped, or whatever else you care to call it. But for those who have not played the games before, its a valid release.

Whats that? Subjectivity again? Funny how that keeps cropping up on a games site.

If you have played the games before, move along, nothing to see here.
  • crazyhorse174 #10 5 years ago

Not sure how this is a valid release for anyone who's not played any of the previous games, as the fact that the previous two games do exist, means you could just go and play those.

As opposed to forking out the 50+ quid that we know they'll charge.
  • afray #11 5 years ago

AFAIK Activision will distribute in the UK, and Lucasarts is still the publisher proper.
  • kangarootoo #12 5 years ago

    @crazyhorse174

You think that buying this single pack will cost more than buying each of the previous games individually? Not sure I agree that will be the case (unless you start comparing the HS market with new, which is hardly a fair comparison).

We actually don't "know" what they will charge, do we?

They should just convert a few more franchises to Lego really.

I always though Indiana Jones would have been perfect for it, but for whatever reason Lucasfilms denied it.

So let's have (from current Lego IP):

Lego Batman (encompassing all movies - well, mabe only I, II and Begins)

Lego Spiderman (the 3 movies - eaasyyy!)

Lego Harry Potter (pick any flim(s) you like)

    New IP (maybe):

Lego POTC (I can just see the little guys now - hehehe)
Lego SAW (for the sadists - 18 rating!)

Also Lego GRAW, GoW, GOW, RS, HL2 and other videogame IP would be frikkin great.
  • afghan_jones #14 5 years ago

they are already making lego batman.

and yes, lego gears of war would be excellent. chainsawing little lego marcus into pieces...

    There's a difference?
  • smelly #16 5 years ago

Wasnt this announced ages ago? (Although it was wii exclusive then?)
  • Der_tolle_Emil #17 5 years ago

It was first announced for the Wii but I don't think as an exclusive. I am not sure though.
  • kangarootoo #18 5 years ago

    @Overlush

Of course there is a difference.

One is fun to play, despite how negative you might feel about its origins.

The other is not fun to play, despite how much you might respect its heritage.
  • Overlush #19 5 years ago

    Wow dude.

You just summed up my love life in two lines ;)
  • afghan_jones #20 5 years ago

really, lego gta is where its at, customising vehicles with extra bricks, using bricks to uild stairs to get into secret areas, building your own insane jump ramps, that would be grand.

plus nobbing lego hookers has long been my dream...

The new DS version is by different developers than the previous LSW2 port and is a mini-port of the 2 games for PS2/XBox etc, tailored to the DS.

I ran this through the dev-debullshitter translator and came out with this.

    Lego Hitman please!

I want to remove lego heads with piano wire!
