New Left 4 Dead DLC released today News

Valve has announced the next batch of downloadable content for Left 4 Dead will be released today.
The Xbox 360 version of the Survival Pack is due to launch at around 2am PST, which is 10am GMT in the old money. The PC version will follow at some point later in the day.
The pack is free to download, hooray. It will introduce a new multiplayer mode titled Survival plus two Versus mode campaigns.

Completely underwhelming. This might have been worth a look if they released it shortly after the game was released. Frankly by now we want new environments and this half-arsed functionality add-on just isn't good enough.

Looks like I will be dusting off my copy of L4D again.
Valve really should be releasing more content for this game on the xbox. A new map every 2/3 months would have kept things fresh. They could charge 400points and I would have bought them all. |

Fact is those two versus campaigns should have been in the retail game in the first place or released much sooner. Didn't make any sense at all really, except for Micro$oft's insistence to heavily stall the new content to promote the Xbox360 version.
Anyway, Survival mode sounds new enough though. |

It never ceases to amaze me how miserable and demanding gamers are. Complaining about free content that no doubt took a lot of man hours to create and tweak so it's just right. Get a fucking life and some perspective.

It makes you add an update when you stick the game on, then you go into the main menu of L4D and "get survival pack" which is 101.18mb. I'm gonna have a go of it tonight, still loving this game. I'd like it if they added a new weapon, but I'm more than happy with what we're getting.

Left 4 Dead is awesome, but there's no denying it was a little light on content. I bought this game in the knowledge that this is Valve and what's on the disc won't be the whole game a few months down the line.
I certainly won't complain about the update, but I would have complained had it not come. |

People complaining should fuck off. Sure the game is light on content but because its so well balanced and the director mixes things up im still not bored (and i only really play the 2 vs maps). 2 new maps and a whole new game mode sounds like it will keep me going for another few months. And dont worry there will be more free content to come later on.

Well done Valve. This is the way it should be done.
Support for your products and free too. Publishers don't seem to realise that we have paid a huge amount of money already, and some after sales support of its product is not too much to ask. If they want a bigger slice of the pie, then cut out the middle man on the initial sale (as Valve are trying to do) |

Yeah, funny I thought the same thing the other day! I guess because she is a keen gamer herself I use her experiences in my posts a lot. Also she always does nice little gaming related things for me, like the other day I posted on a AC2 story I was looking for AC the night before and couldn't find one, she read it and got a copy that night AND she put money towards my new PS2 this weekend. Top woman! I'm a lucky guy TBH, she deserves a mention now and again purely for putting up with my Trek addiction! :)

I completely agree about those people complaining and their option to fuck off. PC gamers have got their knickers in a twist because the DLC is being released a few hours later than the 360 users. The mind boggles. Too many people around in need of a good swift one. Anyway, can't wait for new melee fatigue system, that should be...fun?
