New leaked Witcher 2 footage appears
See Geralt fight a Kraken.
CD Projekt has pointed Eurogamer towards another leaked video of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, this time caught off-camera during a presentation.
PR boss Pawel Majak told us the developer had decided to talk about the leak openly "as we are curious about feedback from fans". "Let's turn the damage into something good and make [the game] even better," he said.
The handheld and wonky clip follows mutant hero Geralt nosing around a rural village before he battles a giant sea monster (maybe a Kraken) on the side of a cliff. He dodges pounding tentacles before slicing off their tips like sushi, causing the creature to flail wildly and dislodge a very large piece of precariously placed scenery.
Things to look or listen out for are villagers going about their daily lives, clever graphical touches and a more immediate camera angle that, combined with a rousing score, conjures a blockbuster feel.
There's commentary in Russian, if anybody cares to translate in the comments.
The Witcher 2 was announced abruptly after an internal presentation video leaked onto the internet - much like this one.
The Witcher 2 will be multiplatform and CD Projekt still has "a lot" of work to do on the game. Specific platforms and a date are not confirmed.

Sure it wasn't though. Not sure it would be appropriate to defeat chthulhu by chopping off his limbs at the glowing weak spots.

Even glimpsing chthulu's weak spots will drive you mad! Mad, I say! MAAAAAAAAD!
Mad as a bag of hammers. Mad as a wild animal - on fire.

Although I guess we Poles are used to being mixed up with Russians. As long as it doesn't involve airports, ebul terrorists and needles controversy it's not that bad

I agree. Oh wait, you were talking about the sequel?

Totally buying this now.
And I think I'm serious.

Commentary mostly says something like this:
-Developers now created new scripting tools which allow them to manage scripts much better than in original Witcher - now it's all can be added dynamically.
-The issue with heroes couldn't climb over low obstacles now solved (doesn't say if a hero himself can do that).
-Animation and visuals are NOT final - it simply is some current build for demonstration purposes.
-Russian localization will be ready the same day with Polish release.
-NPCs now don't have hard-coded timetable - they all have their priorities of work, entertainment and interactions.
-Hero now can enter any building. One of the designers' tasks was to create more living and interactive game world.
-On 03:x0 timeline was an example of NPCs' reaction on Heralt unholstering his sword.
-Before that cool boss thing player gets a bomb, so he already knows what to do with it. To kill the boss he needs to enrage it and cut off a couple of limbs.
So you can see that those who don't understand Russian won't miss anything important in that chatter.

- for a work in progress it looks amazing, the animation in certain parts is incredible (the monster for instance)
- it's great to see NPC's moving about more believably and freely, in spite of the few navigation bugs
- I want this and will be buying it on release day, which is something I rarely do. The Witcher is the best medieval/fantasy RPG I've ever played bar none (and I've experienced quite a few since The Elder Scrolls: Arena and Lands of Lore). The Enhanced Edition kicks much ass, that and the recent 1.5 patch easily demonstrate the developer's commitment to its audience.
edit: thanks for the quick translation DaemonSpawn!

@Eldritch The wooden one;P
Anyway, this looks quite nice for such an early build. Regardless if these convenient leaks are really leaks at all, it's good to see something is the works, Witcher was a good game (got a few gripes with it, but only because I know the books too well).
On the other hand, seeing CDPR treading the path of such amazing, fresh and innovative gameplay concepts like QTE's (last vid) and big glowing "HIT ME HERE" boss strategies I'm not sure if I really like the direction.
Well, there's no reason to bitch anyway, if a mechanic is implemented with a purpose it can work, and it's really early in development as they are eager to stress, a lot can change. CDPR went through some tough financial times recently and seeing as our games development market is't exactly humongous, it's good to see them in some form of a fighting shape. Looking forward to seeing how it unfolds.

But the commentary *is* in Russian.
