New info on Conan PVP revamp
Test server spills beans.
The first hard details on the new player-versus-player combat systems being introduced to Funcom's fantasy MMO Age of Conan have emerged over on Massively.
The details come from the game's test server, so are naturally subject to change. But they give some idea what to expect from the much-anticipated revamp, which we discussed with director Gaute Godager in our recent interview.
As it stands, the new "notoriety" system will start you out as Innocent. If you attack an Innocent player in the world, you'll be flagged as a Criminal; if you kill one, you'll gain Murder Points. With enough Murder Points you become a Murderer, guards will attack you, you won't be able to speak to traders, and other players will gain extra rewards for killing you. There's no penalty for killing Criminals or Murderers.
A PVP-specific levelling system will also be introduced. There will be ten PVP levels to get through, gained by accumulating PVP experience by killing players, but you can lose it when you die in PVP.
There will also be PVP armour and weapon rewards. You'll buy these with regular in-game money, but you'll need to meet PVP level requirements before you can use them.
Eurogamer MMO will have a full report on these and other aspects of player warfare in Age of Conan after the new systems are patched into the game. In the meantime, check Massively for more details, or visit our gamepage for all things Age of Conan.

Unfortunately there's a lot more needs fixing in AoC afore I'll subscribe again, PvP is the least of them.

would it have been so hard for them to have delayed their launch to around the time this patch will come out?
launching how they did with so many features broken or missing...
it isnt a simple matter of patching in content to win back former suscribers, many have now got a bitter taste in their mouths when ever AoC is mentioned.
WAR and Lich King are so close I can taste them.
Im in the WAR beta and am very happy with how its turning out, I know Blizzard will launch a polished product - they have built their own reputation for things like that...
I dont see how even an AoC miracle patch could dampen my appetite for the 'competition' at this stage.
such a missed opportunity / ball dropped.

The game is a shambles, and reminds me of the Vanguard launch.Isn't it funny that this information becomes available during the week of gamers resubbing to this title. Strange that. Not that it effects me anymore. Like so many others account cancelled.

They've been giving big promises on the patches since release, the first few patches were good but everything since then has been increasingly messy. Not to mention the sheer number of balance changes which are made and then not documented in the notes!! Extremely inconvenient to players to find out their talent build is now broken only after login and playing.
Most people I know have already quit / taken breaks, I just don't see how Funcom can have enough significant numbers left for endgame after both WAR and the WoW expansion are released before the end of the year.
