I've seen 2 of these kind: one case is "shame achievements" like die XX times (Blue Dragon, I didn't want those); and then you have Kameo which were made to celebrate an event (no much effort required from the player).

because theres a cap on achievements per game but theyre still badges to show off

quake 4 bonus disc had quake 2 on it with achievements that earned 0 pts

shame about the online Halo 3 community. scores of utter cocks. second accounts fucking up the skill balance, betrayals, quitters, not to mention the ever present verbal abuse... and if you're betrayed repeatedly and decide to leave, you're punished.
the last 3 times I've played I've vowed never to play again with anyone not on my friends again - only to have a few beers and then chance it once more.

i've had equally bad, if not worse, experiences on other games. it's like all online, there's a bunch of fucktards around, and they suck :(

750 points? I thought the whole cap was 1250? Perhaps they'll change it for H3. Dunnoz.

Any that *have* to be earned in lone wolves can fuck right off. Or even ranked. Ranked Halo 3 online is an absolute nightmare.

^ agree with Lutz..., forcing ppl to do ranked is stupid considering a tiny little thing called "real world".

Epic got it right with UT3 and for what it seems with Gears 2.

There's a 0 pointer on Fable II Pub Games for playing using your Fable II hero, and 1 on DOA4 for getting your ass kicked online IIRC. They're there for 100%ers to get, as they like to not only get 1k/1k but EVERY achievement...

This sounds intriguing. MS'll have to change the GSP cap again - it was 1k for game, 250 for an expansion. But AN expansion, note, not PER.

yeah... as oposed to wanting to have a normal game and hear "boost game! boost game!", that means not only the "cheating" but also ruining the game for those who want to play it normally.

but halo online is almost impossible for those who aren't "l33t" or verging on it, so most of these achievements are redundant anyway

If what that article implies is true, that these new achievements can be unlocked on social playlists, then I will spunk in a bucket.

Also I thought it was a strict 1250 limit. Or is Halo allowed to break the rules?

I agree with muscleblade, I don't like the idea of boosting, I prefer earning them the honest way. I'm actually pretty crap at online games in general so if I can't get them then I can't get them, and thats that.

My brother got the full 1000 on Blue Dragon, including the two for no points that actually take a fair bit of effort. I told him he was stoopid.

i think the problem with halo online (since COD4) is the time limit on games. if you get humped on COD the game ends fast, on halo if you get shafted it goes on for 20 minutes. not much of an experience for the less able players...

Yes, but without the time limit (which isn't anywhere NEAR 20 mins) I and others wouldn't have had some of the best and closest games ever. The 49 vs 50 scorelines happen. It's satisfying to stage such comebacks.

The problem I see with adding a rank 7 on the 7th though will be the bell ends who de-level just to get it. So, for about a month after this releases there will be arseholes team-killing to get to rank 7 - sigh.

Otherwise, still loving a bit of Halo 3 action!

There's loads of 0g achievements in games. I made sure that the one in FIFA 08 (score 2 own goals in a game) I didn't unlock until I'd already 1kd the game to show it was done on purpose :)

Also in H3 time limit is 10 minutes, and it's first to 25 for every man and first to 50 for team slayer, and 99% of the time that comes well before the time limit is up.

achievements for ranked matches as opposed to social is meaningless. achievement matches exist... it's bullshit.
I prefer COD4 type achievements, make them all single player.

I have 990, can't get the "Overkill" nor "Steppin Razor" (I was so close once or twice, though...). Was realy, realy happy when I did "Two for One"!

I'm missing: Two for One, Overkill, Steppin' Razor, Maybe Next Time Buddy.

don't really care though for some reason. I got obsessed with maxing BioShock and COD4 achievements but these H3 multiplayer ones leave me a bit cold. Plus I've played against kids who had given each other the achievements by standing still and getting mown down etc.
I don't quake with fear if I see someone with 1000 :)

It's these cheevos right here that interest me, im hoping for an expansion to the single player game that mught draw me back to Halo which in all honesty im not very good at. But if it's all added for multiplayer i probably wont bother, last time i played i was getting lagged out of matches even though my connection was good hence losing points for no apparant reason.
