New details emerge of Riddick multiplayer
Has Pitch Black and CS-style modes.
Starbreeze plans to put a creepy Pitch Black multiplayer mode in Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, where one person becomes likes-the-dark Riddick, while the others are bog standard guards with guns and torches.
But if those guards manage to take down the stealthy hunter Riddick, then they become him next round, according to Official Xbox Magazine. "Athena him!"
Dark Athena will sport regular 12-player deathmatch and capture the flag. There's also an appealing Butcher Bay Riot mode that has three teams of four battle to be the first to activate a central power cell.
Groups are split into Guards, Mercenaries and Prisoners. And while each has identical abilities, there's will be a Counter-Strike-style weapon purchase system to mix proceedings up. Presumably there will be similar lifelike damage rules to abide by, making teamwork essential.
OXM reports there will be around 20 maps all-in-all.
Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena started life as an Xbox 360 and PS3 upgrade to the celebrated Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay.
Atari has since picked up the Sierra-dropped IP, and decided to go to town, adding an entirely new campaign and the aforementioned multiplayer.
Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena will head to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 next spring.

If only. It sounds more actiony than that. Gief spy/merc multi again ;(

Yeah, you're right, it does sound more arcadey, and therefore nowhere near as good as the old Splinter Cell multiplayer was.
I doubt this will be as complex, but hey, at least it's step in the right direction.

I'd like to see a Pitch Black mode that's survival against the aliens like in Left4Dead, that'd be great.

Seconded. Pitch Black without these flying thingies is a bit pointless, imo.
