NCsoft: COH is a "flourishing franchise"
Sequel not ruled out. Expansion dated.
NCsoft has responded to yesterday's City of Heroes 2 trademark sighting. There was no direct comment, but the MMO specialist was happy to hint at a long future ahead of the series.
"City of Heroes is a flourishing franchise and continues to be the world's most popular superhero MMO," NCsoft told Eurogamer.
"While we cannot comment on City of Heroes 2 at this time, NCsoft is proud of City of Heroes' success and is looking forward to future product launches associated with the franchise."
The publisher added that the next expansion, City of Heroes: Going Rogue, will be released in July.

They say it's flourishing, I think I read somewhere that they have 128,000 subscribers? That's not too bad for an MMO that preceded WOW. In my trial, the EU-English servers are very quiet (I saw under 10 people across a bank holiday weekend), but I'll be starting properly on the US server where apparently it's more busy.
