Naughty Dog PS3 game name
Developer portfolio spills beans.
An unwitting modeller at Naughty Dog has accidentally revealed the name of the team's upcoming PlayStation 3 game in his online portfolio, referring to the upcoming 2007 release as Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
Along with this he also posted new screenshots showing lush jungle environments (in the game, that is). Unfortunately, this has all mysteriously disappeared, leaving us with only PlayFrance's word for it.
Publisher Sony was unavailable for comment at the time of writing, but we expect little more than what it said to US gaming sites: "We do not comment on rumors or speculation. No official announcement has been made."
Naughty Dog's game was shown at last year's E3, and has had no previous name associated with it. All we knew about it was from a one minute-long teaser trailer, showing a third-person action title that looked strikingly similar to an Indiana Jones adventure, with the protagonist monkeying around in a tropical forest with shotguns and pistols.
It sounds like a fairly convincing rumour to us.
Meanwhile, you can adventure over to the game's website to see the trailer from E3. Which is about as in-game as an idea not derived from Aliens.

Then again, Naughty Dog have been going downhill ever since Jak 2... oh, sorry. Jak II, according to the European release. Yet the third was named Jak 3... marketing people have no sense of continuity.

First of all, I've loved every single Naughty Dog game, even if they're not all perfect. Second, I dig the Indiana Jones premise. Third, the graphics look nice.

Naughty Dog are the cat's pyjamas alright but I'm not so sure about this one. Premise looks a bit po-faced for the creators of Jak, plus the protagonist is some designer-stubbled weed. The gameplay seems to be generic third-person running and gunning.
No doubt it'll be good fun but I wouldn't call it a 'must-have', at least on the basis of that trailer.

OOOH Pitfall Harry I gave that one a miss because it went the more comical cartoony look than following the tone of the snes version.
Don't give me a heart attack like that again.

The main character is particularly poor, his proportions are all over the place.

But the trailer footage isn't in-game. Even as pre-rendered graphics that doesn't look very good.

And for the people who think it's pre-rendered: Even if it was, what was shown can definitely be pulled off on the PS3.
