Namco doing yet more Naruto for PS2

First to be based on Shippuden anime.

Namco Bandai plans to release a brand new Naruto PS2 game here in May.

Ultimate Ninja 4 will be the first instalment based on the Naruto Shippuden anime. It is set two-and-a-half years after the ninja left his friends to pursue his craft.

That's exciting for fans of the series, because all sorts will have changed for his return, which soon sees him uncovering a threat from a mysterious organisation called Akatsuki. Dun dun dun.

The main Master mode combines RPG and action, and tells the story of Naruto's return to Hidden Leaf Village. There's a Free Battle mode boasting the usual one-on-one fights to accompany the main campaign, and more characters than ever to pick from.

hmmmm, had the Japanese version of this for over 20 months, even had its sequel for about a year, wonder why it takes them so long to bring them over to the west especially when they are both better than current offerings in the west, Broken Bond and Ninja Storm!

Also a must buy for all fans of the manga/anime as for the first time you are able to unlock the fourth Hokage (yellow flash) as a playable character. No time-skip Sasuke though, not until Narutimate Shippuden Accel 2, which i assume will be Ultimate Ninja 5.

This would have been exciting 4 years ago. It's like announcing a Harry Potter game based on Goblet of Fire!

(would be interested in seeing how they let you control someone with six bodies, but I guess we won't find out til about 2012, by which point I won't care)

My guess is because they are trying to keep pace with the DVD release of the series - which at the moment is just about up to the end of season 5. I assume thats where it makes the jump to Shippuden series (yes I'm watching it on DVD, and no I'm not paying that much attention to whats out on fansub).
Otherwise the games could make things a bit spoilerific for people like me, y'know, in terms of who lives and who dies.
