Ridge Racer 6 for 360 launch?

Start your engines, folks…

Ridge Racer 6 may see a surprise launch alongside Microsoft's Xbox 360, according to Namco's updated U.S release calendar slotting the game in for an autumn 2005 date.

The newest installment of the arcade racing series had no official launch date set after it was confirmed for Microsoft's next generation machine, but speculation persisted that the company was pushing Namco for the title to line-up with the arrival of Xbox 360.

The Ridge Racer franchise has been a mainstay for Sony's PlayStation format since 1994 after a previously successful stint in video arcades. A launch on Xbox 360 would be an obvious coup for Microsoft, but there's still no confirmation that the game's exclusive.

Other significant titles to feature in Namco's line-up include We Love Katamari, (September, no UK date) and Soul Calibur III (October for US and UK), both on PlayStation 2.

"We Love Katamari, (September, no UK date)"

What drugs are Namco on. Release this game in the UK for Christ's sake! I'm loathed to go down the modding route, but I fear I may be swayed in order to play this game (any version of it).

I would prefer a Katamari title for 360. All that extra power could push Katamari to even bigger worlds/rolling!

    /continues dreaming

Imagine then what it'd be like with the ps3's/revolution power?

I think we should get used to reading about SONY franchises jumping ship to the superior platform. That said though in this instance Microsoft should have let the bugger drown, typical SONY game.... :/

Ridge Racer was around before Sony got involved, Balor.

    'Autumn' goddammit. AUTUMN.
  • Milbe #14 7 years ago

Balor, would you please mind to educate us what a typical SONY game and a typical MS game is, and why is the one better than the other? Thanks.

The more i think about it the more likely it seems that Namco is indeed 50 years old this year.
And incase your wondering why a computer game company started in 1955 when the first video game wasn't created to like the early 70's, i think Namco started off like Sega & Nintendo creating Toilet roll, stationary & other products like that then jumping ship to the Console world in the mid 70's.

Also, i wonder when their releasing Katamari Damacy DS?

"Imagine then what it'd be like with the ps3's/revolution power?"

I thought the general consensus is there wouldnt be too much in it, specially as we know very little about the revolution...

Although there have been countless days where i've sat down at a ps2 and said , by crumbs what would GTA:SA look like built from the ground up for Xbox, or MGS.

Ridge Racer isnt all that good tbh... the last one, before the R:CRAP scored mild 7/10s on average.

Namco started out life in 1955 as the Nakamura Manufacturing Ltd. founded in Tokyo and began operations by installing two rocking-horse rides on the rooftop of a department store in Yokohama.

They changed their name to Namco in 1972

    God I love Google!

Hehe, i was pretty close. And i didn't use google :)

Wash wins award for being the first to take the fanboy bait, but not being a fanboy about it.. *sulk*.
  • raikov #22 7 years ago

RR5 wasn't groundbreaking, but Ridge Racers on the PSP is amazing, and the series seems to be back on track (not including the port off RR64 on the DS). Rage Racer 2 would make my day/week/year ;)
  • tenma #23 7 years ago

    Bring back Reiko Nagase!

    :o
  • IronGiant #24 7 years ago

Another gem from Balor. Ridge Racer on PSP is quality so maybe the franchise is back on track, ouch ;)
  • Cloudane #25 7 years ago

    Ouch!

My GameCube is still not being used and the last time I turned it on was in March (Resident Evil 4 - I played through it twice for Christ sake). Times like this is when I sometimes wish I had bought a Xbox instead in 2003...

I shall be getting the Xbox 360 for sure and grab a copy of Halo, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Star Wars: KotOR, PGR2, GTA: Double Pack, Ninja Gaiden, RalliSport Challenge 2, TCoR: Escape From Butcher Bay, Fable, OutRun 2, Oddworld Strangers Wrath and more, but that is very wishful thinking.

    :(
