Lucky bleeders got copies.

High street retailer Argos has broken the Halo 3 street date, and has sold copies of the hugely awaited game to bundles of eagle-eyed customers.

The news spilled from our very own forum, where members posted jealousy-inducing shots of their freshly bought copies, complete with receipts.

However, Argos is apparently now aware of its rather glaring error and is once again playing by the original rules of releasing it next Wednesday. Meanwhile eBay enjoys massive traffic.

It all started when various stores on the Argos website told those of you reserving a copy that you could collect it today, or between "Wed 19th September - Thu 20th September".

Oblivious till tenders then dished out the game to unbelieving shoppers brandishing reservation codes, allowing them to enjoy the fruits of Halo 3 a week early.

Well actually that probabaly wasn't the best example to use as that was indeed reported on a minute by minute basis. Afterall it was arguably the biggest news event since the Cuban Missile Crisis.

I hope those that bought it now flood the net with spoilers that'd be fantastic! Piece of over-hyped crap anyway!!

As for those reviewers giving it nothing less than a 9, well there's a SHOCK!! Why bother reviewing, everyone's gonna be so fanboyed up about it that no-one will give it a proper review, i.e. just another FPS with very little new in it! 7/10 at best I reckon

Me? No. However, a certain other gaming site have spoken directly to Microsoft, and a rep of theirs has confirmed that accounts that show online OR offline playtime on Halo 3 before the street date will have their Xbox Live accounts suspended.

Except it almost certainly isn't. Some anonymous MS rep supposedly spoke to some dodgy website. It's about as official as a Daily Express "Maddie" headline. Even if such a conversation did take place, said rep would not have the authority to make that kind of call.

I'm happy to wait and enjoy the build up ( I've had the legendary edition on pre -order since about march I think )...and don't really want my �40.00 a year LIVE account banned by some foreign jerk in MS's european HQ malicously going thru everyones gamer scores to see if they started playing H3 early. So I'll Wait.

Plus all my nearby Argos stores aren't doing it until monday at least. ( gits)

There's not much point in logging in before the release since the majority of players do not have the game yet. People who want to explore the maps should be able to do that offline anyway. So for people who are playing it ... is it worth lining up for or what?

Of course they were never going to ban anyone for playing the retail game!

They banned some for playing the internal test (hacked epsilon code) illegally but they could never ban the end user for a retailer�s error.

Have you people never seen an internet rumour before?
