Argos breaks Halo 3 street date News

Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

19 September, 2007

High street retailer Argos has broken the Halo 3 street date, and has sold copies of the hugely awaited game to bundles of eagle-eyed customers.

The news spilled from our very own forum, where members posted jealousy-inducing shots of their freshly bought copies, complete with receipts.

However, Argos is apparently now aware of its rather glaring error and is once again playing by the original rules of releasing it next Wednesday. Meanwhile eBay enjoys massive traffic.

It all started when various stores on the Argos website told those of you reserving a copy that you could collect it today, or between "Wed 19th September - Thu 20th September".

Oblivious till tenders then dished out the game to unbelieving shoppers brandishing reservation codes, allowing them to enjoy the fruits of Halo 3 a week early.

EDIT: Does that not mean they will get a HUGE fine now? Also, don't we ALL get our copies early too?

I do remeber the much hyped Shenmue release for Dreamcast where the whole country had to sell it a week early because a chain began selling when it shouldnt have.

So who knows.

It's not so much speed, it's just it's misleading people into think it's actually still happening based on the news in the forums.

Disappointment ahoy.

News takes time to write FFS.

When 11/09 happened you didn't get minute by minute info. There is a delay.

Why the impatience? Anticipation is half the fun - especially as it's Halo, which always disappoints in reality.

or he meant 9/11 as its properly known?

Well actually that probabaly wasn't the best example to use as that was indeed reported on a minute by minute basis. Afterall it was arguably the biggest news event since the Cuban Missile Crisis.

But yeah, he does have a point. Normal news (such as this) does take time to write.

09/11, 11/09. Everyone knows both dates. At least if you read stuff outside of the UK anyway... And considering it happen in America I'd consider their usage of the dates more accurate.

So there. :P

Strange - I did my dissertation on 9/11 - and both UK and US (pretty much the world in fact) news report it as 9/11, hardly ever as 11/09.

How can one of two representations of the SAME date be more accurate than the other? They're ... the same.

But the UK people still say 9/11? What im saying is that 9/11 is the actual name of the event - rather than being classified as a specific date.

Anyways - I'm suprised this isn't on Sky's Breaking News section. Everything else makes it on there so why not this?
