MW2 Resurgence DLC at 6pm UK

Activision clarifies arrival times.

Update: Activision has announced that the Resurgence Pack will be available to UK gamers at 6pm (7pm CET).

Original story:The second piece of Modern Warfare 2 DLC, the Resurgence Pack, will be available late afternoon/early evening in the UK.

That's according to a tweet made by Xbox Community Manager Graeme Boyd. "That's genuinely all the info I have. Honest," he said.

Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb added that the update may take "a few hours" for the content to roll out across all territories.

The Resurgence Pack, like the Stimulus Pack, contains five maps - three new, two old - costs 1200 Microsoft Points and is exclusive to Xbox 360 (for the time being).

    1200 points for 3 new maps, like the last DLC. How do Activision justify it?
  • jag10 #3 2 years ago

    @Optyk

    "Activision announced that the Stimulus Package, the first map pack released for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, was downloaded over one million times on Xbox Live in the first 24 hours of its release on March 30.

    Priced at $14.99, first-week sales reached 2.5 million downloads in total. The Stimulus Package is currently only available for download on Xbox Live, making these sales all the more impressive for Activision. "

    Thats how.
  • louyfitz #7 2 years ago

    Hmmm as much as I love COD online, these prices take the piss. Considering I just got gears 2 for a couple of quid more in tescos.

    They couldn't justify it the first time but then all those people bent over and took it so now they can justify it ;)

    i refuse to be robbed by activision and the rest of the games companies.i will not buy this dlc untill it´s asking price drops below €7:99. i may miss out while the rest of the fools get robbed and they give activision more reasons to up the price for dlc´s.

    sad state of afairs really.
  • Bealsy #12 2 years ago

    Those 800 points I got for free the other day make this much cheaper... how much is 400 points? I may jump off the bandwagon.
  • max75 #13 2 years ago

    3 tiny maps and 2 old maps for 1200mps no way
    800 mps and i mite be tempeted,bad company 2 is so much better......
  • ps3owner #14 2 years ago

    how was the first one?! I haven't bought it. is it worth it?! might just wait till the price drops (will that happen?!)
  • Collymilad #15 2 years ago

  • lakey999 #16 2 years ago

    I've given up on Call of Duty. It used to be the under-dog, now it's the juggernaut. Call of Duty 4 was AMAZING. Modern Warfare 2 was disappointing. I will not be purchasing any more Call of Duty games, purely based on the fact that Activision are a nasty piece of work.
  • RelaxedMikki #17 2 years ago

    I think this may be a little less sucessful than the first DLC.

    I really enjoy pottering around on MW2 despite being decidedly below average. I was excited by the idea of new maps to run around on and bought the Stimulus on day one.

    Don't really feel ripped off as such, but at the end of the day Stimulus was just a few maps - not any new weapons, perks, game modes etc like you would see in other downloads of a similar price.

    I am not rushing out to buy another update of what is just set of different shapes and texture maps to play exactly the same game in.
  • bodypopper #18 2 years ago

    Prices will undoubtedly drop once Black Ops comes out so I'll wait, ta.
  • Physically_Insane #19 2 years ago

    Wow! Predictable comment!

    Can't wait for this. Me and my mates will be playing this for weeks and weeks!
  • geeza2020 #20 2 years ago

    ^^^ Activision saw him coming...
  • Physically_Insane #21 2 years ago

    Yeah I must be a fool. I only play this game every week with all my friends and can afford an extra £3 for new maps. I can't believe that people are now boycotting anything Activision create because of the extra cost of a fucking pint.
  • ozzzy189 #22 2 years ago

    RAM IT !!!! I bought the last one, but Kotick you can get stuffed. it was not good value and this won't be either.
  • goondocks74 #23 2 years ago

    Yet again we see the relentless exploitation of the weak willed, and the fools with more money than sense keep it coming again and again. Wake up people!!! lol

    More money than sense?

    £3.

    It's only 3 more fucking pounds!

    @Physically_Insane

    Almost as predictable as overpriced shit like this selling millions when there are better alternatives that don't assrape you every two months with 'new' content. I hope people enjoy this, I really do, they've now paid nearly £70 for it.

    Also, you do know 1200MSP is over a tenner, right?

    Call me a sucker but I'll be having this as soon as I get home. I wonder if they're making it a double XP week again?

    Decisions decisions. I'm rank 70 level 3 and wasn't going to prestige again, but could be tempted....
  • FreakyZoid #31 2 years ago

    You keep saying that. Where are you getting this £3 number from? 1200 isn't £3.
  • dr_faulk #32 2 years ago

  • mashk #33 2 years ago

    It's like when I was a kid and I used to buy ice creams from the ice cream man. I was always tempted to get the '99' (ice cream with flake in it), but could never justify the extra cost.

    So I was stuck with plain old vanilla, guess I'll just stick to vanilla MW2.
  • carlitoswagon #34 2 years ago

    Shite in comparison to cod4, shite in comparison to BC2, even shite compared to cod:waw (multiplayer).

    Would rather wipe my arse with 1200 ms points/cash equivalent than pay for shite.

  • higganos #43 2 years ago

    I don't give a fuck really, the game got traded in yonks ago. Been playing COD4 recently and it's STILL the better game for multi IMO. In fact, I'm still trying to get to grips with it coz MW2 has literally ruined the way I play online due to it's cheap-ass tricks. STILL can't believe how much shit they threw at MW2 for the multiplayer. WAAAAY too much nonsense going on.
  • LR100 #44 2 years ago

    6pm? CUNTS! I wanted to get on it during the day so I could check it out whilst it was quiet. Now everyone will be downloading it at the same time, causing massively slow speeds and the game will be full of wide awake american 12 year olds!
  • Bealsy #45 2 years ago

    So if everyone on EG's forums doesn't buy it that whinges about it, Activision still won't give a shit. Sorry but it's true.

    Internet forums = minority.

    2.5million downloads. TWO AND A HALF MILLION IN A WEEK. And you lot think a few thousand over the internet is going to make a difference?

    @Bealsy
    And you lot think a few thousand over the internet is going to make a difference?

    I don't think many of the people here are expecting to start a revolution or anything, they're just declaring their OWN intention to not purchase it because of the price. This isn't a crusade.
  • UKLL #49 2 years ago

    I'm probably the biggest COD fan/defender on here but even I'm not buying it, didn't buy the first one either.

    Way overpriced.

    I'm gonna get it on PC.

    I was a hater on MW2 DLC but I still bought the stimulus pack very recently. I still think it is far too pricey for what it is so why still buy it? Well after finding MW2 patched and fixed on PC I enjoy it now. Still I wanted to play some of the classic maps of MW1. Rather than spend again on MW1 (had it on 360 first time around) I thought Sod it, the DLC is pricey but both these packs are pretty much what I'll pay for MW1 PC and gonna have what I want out of MW1 with some more new content for my money.

    I hate to go against the Acti hate for a change, but Stimulus was a worthwhile buy in the end. It does help for me though that it forces you to play the other modes in public matches as I only ever play TDM on COD normally.

    Besides now I'm back in love with COD...Vacant is calling.....
  • Roland_on_the_Ropes #52 2 years ago

    Gonna stump up for it myself i think - go halves with my brother (we each have Live accounts on one console).

    Not getting all the people here who seem to think they can tell fellow gamers what and what not to do and in such strong terms. You do not rule the world. It's only a game and you are not my parents so spare me the preaching, get off your respective pedestals and get some perspective on what really matters. The blood pressure on this topic (Kotick, MW2, Acti etc) is sky high.

    Somebody call a doctor!
  • bad09 #53 2 years ago

    I just knew I would get marked down for straying from the pack :)
  • dr_faulk #54 2 years ago

    @higganos

    I think you've just made up my mind for me. CoD4 felt tight and accomplished. MW2 felt like an arcade ride - big, brash and silly. I'll admit I still have hysterics playing it, but you've encouraged me to go back to my roots.
  • ronuds #55 2 years ago

    Well, the number of men anally raped should go up by a few million overnight.

  • Douche #56 2 years ago

    Why are people getting marked down for discussing a game they are playing?

    COD haters, get to fuck! You've made your point. About a million times!
  • higganos #57 2 years ago

    @dr_faulk

    By the way, just remember when stabbing/melee you have to be RIGHT up in the opponent's face to do it. There's none of this "zoom stab from 15 feet" nonsense....as I have found out to my cost on several occassions so far. Haven't realised until going back to COD4 just how ridiculous some of the gameplay tweaks are in MW2. COD4 just seems so much simpler, cleaner and a damn sight more fun all round to play than its successor IMO.

  • ronuds #58 2 years ago

    @higganos

    That's because COD4 was new, fresh and exciting. How do you follow that up when you're being asked to keep the core gameplay in tact: You tack on a bunch of nonsense and tell people it's "better" when it really isn't. More and different =/= better.
  • rubthisway #59 2 years ago

    MW2 is fine, really. As it's the very definition of mainstream these days I guess some crackheads get a kick out of hating on it. It's certainly not perfect, but you make it sound like it's a completely different game from MW1, which is bollocks. Oh, and BFBC2 rocks, obviously, but it's practically a different genre.
  • micky_oc #60 2 years ago

    Cod is a fuckin good game so is bc2. All those that moan seem to spend alot of time Reading about a game they hate which is what, a massive waste of time! Build a bridge..
  • convercide #61 2 years ago

  • Shadzter #62 2 years ago

    Activision charge far too much for these map packs, nearly half of them are old maps too. I don't know how anyone can justify buying them, everyone who buys them must be extremely wealthy.
  • Law07 #63 2 years ago

    Have you noticed that this DLC is advertised in shops like Game etc? I've never seen that with any other game.

    They're making DLC seem like it's a must have and it's working. It's sort of like how Apple does things - advertise them as a must-have and make it overpriced.
  • dudeluvspussy #64 2 years ago

    Really didn't enjoy any of the new maps from Stimulous. I will be purchasing the new pack though, as will all my mates. You can't beat CoD in
  • Jazzy_Geoff #65 2 years ago

    I'll probably get it. I'm playing MW2 less now but I still throw it on for an hour here or there, I'm not poor and the game was only £24 when I bought it on release day so I don't feel that badly done by.

    Will need to wait a month for the PS3 though :(
  • trooperdx3117 #66 2 years ago

    @bad09 you do realise that if you had just bought Call of duty 4 rather than MW 2 map packs then you would have gotten a much better multiplayer service not to mention the ability to download all the maps you want that have been made by modders
  • bad09 #67 2 years ago

    @trooperdx3117

    Yeah, I did think it over before choosing the DLC but I already played MW1 to death on 360 and like I said as it works out the DLC packs (while pricey) will actually give me what I want to replay out of MW1 (Crash, Overgrown, Vacant) so I opted for the packs in the end as I get new MW2 maps to. MW1 or MW2 DLC I would have to give Acti money either way, besides working it out I've still paid under Acti's stupid RRP for the game AND both DLC packs so it 'ain't too bad.

    As for the MP service, I would of agreed up until a few weeks ago but IWnet has greatly improved of late IMO. I have said previously I hated MW2 especially online at first but after re-installing it a few weeks back it was like a different game. The Nvidia driver update and what ever tweaks/fixes IW have done to the game and IWnet have really made a difference, also I've found the annoying perks of MW2 don't seem so annoying when you can actually play online without getting butt hurt due to huge lag :)
  • Popey687 #68 2 years ago

    Law07, when did you last see Apple advertise anything in Game?
  • Popey687 #69 2 years ago

    Downloaded. Carnival quite good fun, it's only 12 quid, why is there such a fuss, it's not exactly expensive is it? About 20 minutes wages for hours of entertainment. Good value really
  • micky_oc #70 2 years ago

    That's about 40 mins wages for me so ur clearly getting abetted deal :(
