Destination Arcade arriving this month.

Microsoft has revealed Xbox Live Arcade user interface overhaul Destination Arcade.

This will roll out across the US on 14th July - we're checking European timing.

Destination Arcade provides Microsoft with more organisation for the 250-plus XBLA games. You'll now be able to sort content by price and community rating; quickly see discounted titles; keep track of the newest releases via a news feed; and find out which games your friends liked and recommended.

What's more, all of this will be presented in a new visual style.

I sincerely hope we get this as well. The XBLA interface is an absolute mess, it's ridiculous that you can't sort the games by price. A similar overhaul to XBLIG would be most welcome too.

Nowhere has Major Nelson said it's US only, all he says is the same as this article, that they're launching in the US in July. He never said US only or that it wouldn't be launching elsewhere.

There is so much information all over the NXE interface, not just XBLA that it is hard to sort through. They really need to use more lists or smaller fonts/thumbnails - I don't see the point of this being the HD generation when all the text is as big as what I had on my first ever PC.

Definitely needed. After downloading a bunch of Indie demos the system now takes forever (a minute or so) to display the games library, that's downright pathetic. The 360 doesn't feel like it's designed for having games on the HDD compared to the Wii judging by their respective UIs. The Wii UI just does a much better job at letting you quickly access the game you want (even including the time needed to copy from the SD card to the main SSD it's still faster than my 360 ATM) while the 360 UI seems to be mostly about letting you easily buy stuff, using that stuff doesn't seem to be as high a priority.

The 360 Xbox dash isn't that bad. I agree that the loading times could be shorter, but there is a logical structure to it all.

Tip: if you don't rent films from the Zune marketplace just delete the app and you can access & play your game trailers & dev diaries the old (much quicker) way

They keep redesigning their interface but it never gets any better. The Wii and PS3 and Steam all have excellent interfaces, so much so that I only buy downloadable games for the 360 when they aren't available anywhere else (marathon, trials, lode runner, rez, shadow complex, etc).
