Ms. Pac-Man going Live
On the Arcade tomorrow.
Kristan squealed with delight this morning when he learned that this week's addition to Xbox Live Arcade would be Ms. Pac-Man, set to waka-waka way onto the download service tomorrow morning at 9am.
"This one confirmed me as a game addict aged 9," he said in an email this morning, as I nodded politely and made note that it costs 400 Microsoft points and will be yet another thing he's playing at the expense of Viva Piņata.
All 255 mazes from the arcade game will be supplied intact, and as you can tell from the screenshots it's been brought to life with the same trappings as many of Namco's other former greats. And New Rally-X.
In keeping with its Live Arcade stablemates, it will be supplied in demo form alongside the full 400-point download, with the requisite 12 achievements to unlock and online leaderboards to help put you in your place. Look out for our thoughts later this week when we've cleaned up after Kristan.

personally i see this as a synical move. There is already another Pac Man game on the Market. Yes, this is an improvement - but couldn't they have released this INSTEAD of Pac Man. Both Games are 25+ years old.

I saw an orginal Ms. Pac-Man arcade at the Game On exhibition last weekend and the drawing of Ms. Pac-Man on the side of machine had breasts!!!
I swear to god. It really freaked me out.

Now I'm not debating Ms Pac Man's classic status, it's just that it's such a simple game, they should be releasing three or four of these sort of games a week, not holding other content back to prolong their drip-feed. Look at Nintendo's Virtual Console or Sony's Playstation Store, they just dump stuff there when it's ready. I don't see why gamers who are waiting for Worms or SWOS or Double Dragon or whatever should have to have to wait additional weeks if the game is ready for release. And if they are going to continue with their current policy, then they should make damn sure that they have something every week, with no gaps like last week's. You can't tell me that they didn't have anything ready - these old games probably take Namco 10 minutes to do, they already have the emulation software, they just have to code live scoreboards and that sort of thing.
