MotorStorm patch coming soon News

PlayStation 3 News by Tom Bramwell

27 January, 2009

Evolution Studios is finally preparing to pump out one of those "major" updates for MotorStorm: Pacific Rift that were mooted at the back end of October just prior to the game's release.

This one's mostly concerned with squashing bugs and exploits. Once it goes live, it will be possible to copy save data, said data will be less likely to become corrupted, and a little helmet will appear on-screen when critical data is being recorded so you don't make the mistake of turning the system off.

Not only that, but the team has identified a boost exploit and will soon be deleting illegitimate leaderboard entries, while time attack and ranking information in general will now update correctly for everyone.

The patch is filled out with "additional fixes and improvements to gameplay", and is "currently in the final stages of development and testing" according to the PlayStation Blog, so expect it soonish.

Back in October, mind you, game director Nigel Kershaw said the team had "a pile of stuff waiting in the wings" and "a lot of it is free", and given the contents of the coming update we expect the "major packs in development that should be on the store after Christmas" are still to come.

Great to see they seem to be showing the second game as much attention post-launch as they did the first one!

Could they make it a little easier by balancing some of those difficulty issues? I have given up about 40% into it cos I was finding it hair-tearingly frustrating.

Apart from that I think it's smashing.

ive not had any probs playing this one online, but i also wasnt aware people may be doing some kind of boost cheat, ive won my fair share of online mathes tho so not that many people can be doing it.

Would really like some of the original maps porting over in the form of DLC :D

oh plus shopto don't do quidco cash back for pre-orders. Which is what they set their games to if they go out of stock. Buggers.
