More Warhawk packs likely News

PlayStation 3 News by Tom Bramwell

19 December, 2007

Warhawk game director Dylan Jobe says Incog will continue to make booster packs like Operation: Omega Dawn for as long as there's interest in them.

The booster pack launches tomorrow on PlayStation Network - priced GBP 3.99 / USD 7.99 - introduces five new night-time maps and a KT-424 Combat Dropship.

Asked on the Sony US blog how long Incog would support the game, Jobe said he wasn't sure. "As long as there is a market for it I think we should continue to develop them," he said.

He also said that free ground troop stuff is "in the works", and dropped a couple of other hints about what might be in patch 1.3.

But we're getting ahead of ourselves - patch 1.2 should be live today (it was scheduled for 10am GMT) ahead of tomorrow's Omega Dawn launch, although game servers will be offline until 4pm GMT today for upgrades.

At this point, the support Sony's internal and second party studios continue to inject into existing PS3 titles is becoming something of a trademark of PSN - with Folklore and particularly MotorStorm among the games whose tails have been wagging furiously with downloadable content since release.

Nice... that new expansion pack looks awesome.

A good thing. That is how you get your community up to standards. Remember how much time and money MS invested in the original Mech Assault. Probably the first game that pulled Live players in. Warhawk is actually quite similar... I hope it keeps on getting support.

Was looking forward to this. Pity the expansion pack is region coded which means I won't be able to download the DLC for my US import copy unless by chance the American store accepts my credit card. :-(

@Kenshin001

The US store is less picky about the credit cards it accepts, it seems. I've been playing Wild Arms from the US store for quite a bit now, paid for with my European credit card.

Beano, Dylan Jobe told me.

“Kenshin001” Wants to know …

Will the downloadable content be region coded?
More or less yes…it’s not based on hardware region code, but based on the region where you purchased the game Warhawk. USA, Europe, Japan, etc.

@Kenshin001: Yes, but that only covers the PSN version. The disc version is region-free and not locked to your account.

Beano, I have the disc. That was the short form of the question. I explained to Jobe I have a US import copy and that was the answer.

I wish they would dedicate some official servers to Omega maps. At least until interest in the new level has subsided.

Correct me if I'm wrong but have they forgotten to add a filter for split-screen mode. It's a real pain trying to find a server that supports it!

The rumble is nicely done in the v1.2 Warhawk patch, it really adds an extra dimension to the game IMO.

If there are more packs to come - new maps, weapons. vehicles etc - then this game will never get old. Well done Incognito. This is what this gen is all about.
The omega dawn pack is fantastic.
