More Test Drive 360 content News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

27 July, 2007

Atari's coughed up a few more cars for fans of Test Drive Unlimited on Xbox 360. Five supercars and a motorbike await you on Xbox Live Marketplace, along with a few Holden Efijy Concept car.

The main event is Test Drive Collection Volume 5, consisting of the Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 Coupe, Dodge Charger Super Bee, Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole, Ferrari 512 TR, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R and Spyker C8 Spyder.

It costs 350 Microsoft points (GBP 2.98 / EUR 4.07), and once you've downloaded them you'll have to head to their respective dealers in-game to buy them up and race around in them and get bored of them and NO REFUNDS.

As you might imagine, what with it having a "5" on the end, there have already been four car collections, all of which are still available from Marketplace, offering the likes of the Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Edition (Vol. 1), the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible 1971 (Vol. 3) and plenty of others.

For more on Test Drive Unlimited and why it's actually quite ace, check out our Test Drive Unlimited Xbox 360 gamepage. It's also out on PS2, PC and PSP.

Was the motorcycle racing in this any good? Don't think there was any in the demo.

Ah, never tried the second demo. It was supposed to have a better framerate as well right.

I thought the bikes were terrible. The cars were good fun though, I really liked Test Drive.

Good news for the 360 owners but Atari has really dropped the ball with TDU on the PC.

Happy days are here again. TDU has become one of my all time favs. Gotta love Atari for consistently supporting the game long after it's released.

Yup, not been playing it much lately but you gotta respect the fact that they're still putting out cars for their fans

Magnum's car was the 308GTS, which is in the pack. Download the theme tune and live the dream :)

@ bootlace

yeah, my mistake. Bit late last night...

Seriously considering part chopping Forza2 for this. Finding it difficult to return to FM2 after a three week hiatus.

I'm sure I remember the developers promising all DLC for this would be free.

All the car packs do come with free stuff too, usually one car of the pack is free. I don't think they ever promised it to be completely free, I could be wrong though. I do know that it took a very long time until they finally managed to get the first pack out however.

If Atari actually said that all DLC would be free, then I guess that does make them look a bit daft, though I'm not sure they did say that.

On a general note, I don't weant devs saying that sort of thing, because it then ties them into a promise that could affect what DLC they are able to produce.

Extra content always costs money. Either it comes from the cash accrused from original sales, or it comes from somewhere else. Company X might look good when they say "all DLC will be free", but we the gamers are still payi8ng for it somehow. We have to be when you think about it.

Given the option of a bit of free content, or a bit of free content plus a load of chargable content, I'd take the second option 'cos I like to have the choice. If company X can't release chargeable content in addition to the free stuff, because they have previously stated all DLC will be free, that is surely a bad thing because it impacts our choice.

Crackdown is a nice example. Spome basic extras for free, some more involved stuff for a very reasonable charge. Everyone was happy.

The only problem with these packs is that I don't have enough money in the game to play them. I was really excited when I heard they were adding the Ferrari 250 GTO in a previous pack, until I discovered I would have to spend hours grinding races to afford the highly realistic, but extremely dull, $5,000,000 price tag.

I've already paid real money for it!

Where's the Ferrari 599 GTB they promised back when they announced the old 'October/November/December' packs? I know they were delayed to massive degrees, but it is now very nearly August and there have been 5 DLCs.

What the fuck Atari?

edit : Aside from that, the pack is shit.
