The game is more or less destined to be completely shite. I hope that the movie is better than the dodgy second one.

I'm playing through the first PoTC game on the PC at the moment, and its a complete disaster. I'm actually enjoying it and think it has some redeeming qualities, but as a film tie-in its does absolutely nothing right. The sort of people who buy a PoTC game are probably looking for a fast paced, humorous, family-fun romp. Instead they get an RPG with some of the wierdest controls possible and no explanation as to what they should do in the game or how they should do it. Once your brief tutorial section is over you're dropped in the ocean on a boat you've not been taught how to sail, under constant threat of being sunk in the first few moments by a pirate ship, a passing storm, or the port you've just sailed up to's cannons because you get no indication it belongs to your new enemies the French. Oh and after that happens you have to redo the intro, because you hadn't though to save yet and there are no checkpoints. Glorious.

I suppose thats what happens when you try and tack a movie name onto a random Russian-made pirate RPG sequel rather than develop it as a film license from the start. It's no wonder the developer's "sequel" Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales doesn't share the same name.

i was in at the post office and this pikee looking women was telling her friend how good the first one was....best game in ages she said. I then released that what I like it not always the same as the pikee and so there is money to be made from them.

I don't want setpieces, this isn't WWE.

I want an entertaining story with interesting characters and a thrilling plot, which is what I got with the first film. POTC 2 was just aimless wandering about with action scenes and supposedly witty lines inserted at random. There wasn't anything coherent about it at all, it's like they wrote the script by drawing scenes out of a hat.

And did they really have to do the kraken three times?

One of the reasons the second movie sucked so much was it had to continue where the first one left off, with enough story that newcomers wouldn't be completely lost, and then it had to leave off where the third movie will begin... most 'middle of a trilogy' movies suck.
