More on Ready 2 Rumble Wii

Sleb caricatures and man who shouts.

Atari has shed more like on AKI's Ready 2 Rumble Revolution for Wii, which the publisher said yesterday would be released in March 2009.

R2RR adopts the Wii Sports standard of remote and nunchuk for boxing gloves and serves up 18 caricatured boxers based on sports, music and film stars to punch your way through in the game's single-player Championship mode, where you also design your own boxer and build them up through mini-games.

Then there's multiplayer, and Atari promises "hilarious moves, detailed facial animations, damage textures and fighting techniques including special moves, combos, extreme knockdowns and special 'Rumble' combos". Meanwhile, the ring announcer is Michael "Let's Get Readyyyy To Rumble" Buffer.

See how it's all shaping up in our Ready 2 Rumble Revolution screenshot gallery.

    Dear oh dear :(

At least it's some good new for Wii owners I suppose, but I'm keen to see what 360/PS3 could do with the series.

What upsets me about this is as follows:

Ready 2 Rumble, for all it's shallow gameplay, had the best controls ever designed for a boxing game. It was simply perfect. So fluent and intuitive, it makes fight night look clunky and robotic in comparison. Why does that have to be messed with> WHY?

Game that suits the Wii down to the ground. Was a big fan of Ready 2 Rumble on the Dreamcast and hopefully this can live up to expectations.

didn't this look better on the dreamcast?

i'd actually buy this just to be able to duff up simon cowell.

he just has one of those punchable faces, perfect fit for a boxing game.

will wait for punch out and fight night round 4 for my boxing fix. found it is better to stay away for games with atari, they are about on par with ubisoft quality wise.

    Trailers here

Looks okay, but I think Punch-Out! is what Wii owners will wait to see in action before taking a chance on this...

AKI...... The makers of the classic N64 WCW/WWF games & also the brilliant Def Jam games (Ignore the most recent one done by EA Chicago)

Past history, tells me this could be very very good!
