More Mass Effect 2 DLC announced

Kasumi's Stolen Memory in April.

BioWare's announced the Kasumi's Stolen Memory downloadable content for Mass Effect 2.

Due 6th April, this introduces the last and twelfth recruit to the roster: Kasumi.

You'll find her - a thief - on The Citadel, and help her on a top secret recovery mission should you feel helpful. Joystiq said the task requires a disguise and leads to a run-in with an art collector.

Besides the character, Kasumi's Stolen Memory will offer a Locust sub-machine gun, a flash-bang loyalty ability and a new Achievement.

The content should take around an hour-and-a-half to romp through.

There's no word on price.

    There's no word on price.

    ^ ^ ^ ^

That's because it will be available for free... I hope.

    Free to Cerberus network perhaps?
  • hiddenranbir #3 2 years ago

They were missing the token oriental.
  • Keivz #4 2 years ago

12th recruit? Didn't seem like there were slots available. I've only done one playthrough so far (will likely do 2 more). BRING IT ON!
  • Jay-ITFC #5 2 years ago

No way this will be free. The content up until now has been basic at best compared to the epicness of the main game. For anything substantial we're gonna be paying.
  • Shrike #6 2 years ago

Zaeed was free and this seems to be a similar amount of content. I wonder if she'll have full on-ship dialogue.
  • Heitzu #7 2 years ago

    The Joystiq website says,
"BioWare is currently in the midst of "internal discussion" to determine the price of the DLC, but we'll keep you updated as soon as it's finalized."

So assume it will cost something.

  • Shrike #8 2 years ago

Well it'll definitely cost something. The issue is whether it'll be free or not for Cerberus Network people.
  • ohcomeon #9 2 years ago

If Dragon Age: Origins is anything to go by, there's a strong possibility of cost to everyone. Free character for 'new' purchasers (Zaeed for ME2, Shale for DA:o) and then charge for extras after that.

Only, I understand the DA:o add-ons are possibly more lengthy and substantial than ME2 stuff. I take it, she'd only have the one mission. So maybe this would cost less.

Should be free for those that have the Cerberus Network....
  • markd250 #11 2 years ago

Probably not worth paying for if you have finished the game?
Unless you play through again I suppose...
  • MattyD #12 2 years ago

This ought to be free to Cerberus Network players... Seeing as how Kasumi assets are already included on the game discs. There are videos on YouTube of PC players who hacked save games to get her included in their team. The assetts on the disc are mostly placeholders but include unique dialogue for her in some cutscenes, implying she was suppposed to be included in the original and was later cut.

If they charge for this it's the worst abuse of DLC ever.
  • icematt12 #13 2 years ago

^Thats why I'm holding out on playing ME2 anymore for a while. I don't want to end up doing the 5 characters now and end up doing them again with DLC missions later. I'm currently playing the first anyway, between masses of time on my PS3, trying to get the characters just how I want them for import to the sequal.

At least one person playing the PC version has already shown Kasumi anyway. She seems to be able to be the expert on the suicide mission, going through the vents. Female Shep character even said her name, youtube link was on BioWare's forums. The person apparently did this by slight modification of installed file(s).

I predict this will be free to Cerberus members personally, wish they could have announced it after the release of the hammerhead though. Saying that though, announcing this now could be a sign that it will indeed cost you more.

Basically another Shale? Was developed early on as a proper char but then taken out and treated as some special post-launch dlc.

No way they could ever have it integrated seamlessly if it was truly made from scratch after release. Of course, that is the sort of thing they should really do with DLC. Slotting in seamlessly to expand the game.
  • BlitzwingHaz #15 2 years ago

I fecking love this game, there's a new weapon available on DLC for Cerberus users btw, a "Cerberus Arc Trigger". haven't used it yet.
I hope I don't have to play through the game agin with my main profile to get Kasumi, but I will if need be, need all the elements in place for the sequel.

    That's a competitive field.

    hahahahahahahaha!

    Where have you been?
  • muscleblade #18 2 years ago

I gladly pay 800 points for this. I guess it will be 400 though. Looking forward to play more ME2. Feels like ages since i finished it.
  • Xerx3s #19 2 years ago

"I gladly pay 800 points for this. I guess it will be 400 though. Looking forward to play more ME2. Feels like ages since i finished it."

Then you're being a bit ridiculous.
  • dr_swin #20 2 years ago

She's going to be well pissed off joining my ship after everyone else has just saved the universe.
  • muscleblade #21 2 years ago

    @Xerx3s

Hmmmm. What i meant was that i personally think 800 points is good value for a one hour lasting quality misson for ME2. I still think 400 points will be the final price as more people are willing to buy at that price. People are cheap bastards. Hope that clears up a bit.
  • swissorc #22 2 years ago

    FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE!.

PS when can I download the tank release date anyone.

Ah excellent, I wanted a person like this, seems to fit in perfectly for the role I need to finish the game

Oh no wait I finished it a month ago. Good timing.
  • KujiGhost #24 2 years ago

800MSP would be FAR too expensive!

For that price you could get Monkey Island or Perfect Dark or SSF2HD or...

  • muscleblade #25 2 years ago

"For that price you could get Monkey Island or Perfect Dark or SSF2HD"

Good point. I bought those of course and Perfect Dark is a steal at 800 points. I paid 70£ when it was released. I thought it ws well worth it then too.
  • reality_cheque #26 2 years ago

Good good, I'm a mere 1024xp from maxing out so this and the tank missions should nicely finish it all off :)

And for those moaning they've finished the game, are you not playing it through multiple times?
  • geeza2020 #27 2 years ago

playing it on insanity at the moment, and im stuck. completely. on one of the little side missions you have to protect a quarian who is injured, and she gets mauled every single time. The enemies are unstoppable at this level, so she dies after about two hits. No matter what weapon load-out i use, what team i have, it always ends the same. I have now officially given up on the game, which is a shame as i was looking forward to the DLC, but can't be arsed to load the game up and fail that mission another few hundred times until i fluke it.
  • kinky_mong #28 2 years ago

"Hmmmm. What i meant was that i personally think 800 points is good value for a one hour lasting quality misson for ME2."

Do yourself a favour and play the Zombie Island or General Knoxx DLC for Borderlands and you'll soon change your mind to what constitutes good value for 800 points.

As long as this extra character is free or at the most 400 points I'll be downloading this for my Insanity playthrough.
  • Xerx3s #29 2 years ago

/\ Couldn't have said it better.
  • TruWari3r #30 2 years ago

I don't think this will be free, the new heavy weapon and the hammerhead hoverthingey missions, yes they'll be free.

Same with Dragon Age, some were free, some you had to pay for
  • muscleblade #31 2 years ago

    @kinky_mong

Played them both and i see your point. They were almost like full games though (especially General Knoxx) and waay underpriced compared to other DLC. It took me 6+ hours to finish Genral Knoxx and i paid the same as if i would rent a movie.
  • TeaFiend #32 2 years ago

As much as we would all love free things (I love free things. I sometimes get free things I don't have any intention of using), developers need to eat. Charged for DLC makes sense as money still needs to be made to pay for their work.
  • VicViper #33 2 years ago

    @geeza2020

What about that new arc lighting weapon the released did you try that?
Also I get the general impression that insanity is unfair hard so I am super reluctant to even bother trying it. I'll get this no problem, eventually when all the DLC is done I'll have another epic play through DLC n all before ME 3.
  • icematt12 #34 2 years ago

I managed to do Insanity as a Sentinel, almost drove me insane at times. I found Miranda to be very helpful in general, along with Grunt (tank and general combat purposes, a lot of enemies seem to be armour wearing organics) and Thane for Husks and Scions. A throw on an unprotected Husk is apparently instakill. Then some Garrus to be anti-shield when needed.

I didn't do many side missions on my Insanity. I just wanted it done with and then do a Sentinel on Vet later getting everything. Still finished level 40s somewhere.

What, level 40? It's capped to level 30 on my version ;)

    @ muscleblade

"Hmmmm. What i meant was that i personally think 800 points is good value for a one hour lasting quality misson for ME2."

It just isn't. 800 isn't even anywhere near good value.

I think, going by the excellent value Resi DLC and especially the existing Zaeed DLC (which seems to be a fair comparision content-wise), that anything above 400 would be pushing it.
