More GRID content on its way

Cars, online modes, Achievements.

Codemasters is preparing more Xbox 360 and PS3 content for Race Driver: GRID, which will be available to download sometime this autumn.

Inside the upcoming 8 Ball pack will a selection of new cars: McLaren F1 GTR, TVR Cerbera Speed 12, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, Honda S2000, Nissan GT-R (S-G2008), VW Nardo, Pontiac Firebird Trans AM, Volvo C30.

We know what a Ford Escort looks like, and a Volvo from the 1980s, but these are beyond us. Apparently Top Gear liked one of them or something. And we quite like Top Gear. Sometimes.

All eight of the cars will be available in Race Day mode and can be revved around online - where there will also be a couple of additional events to try. No specifics, unfortunately.

The 8 Ball pack on Xbox 360 will also offer additional Achievements; four, to be precise, totalling 100 Gamerpoints.

Prices are to be announced, as are PC plans. This is not the end of additional content, either, as Codemasters has V8 Supercars poised for the next batch.

This is the only time I've regretted buying the PS3 version. The 360 version is much better
  • Rash' #3 3 years ago

Other than graphics and achievements what qualifies as "much better" on the 360???

Unlikely, but I hope they go the Burnout route with this, and make this content free.

    @Rash

The graphics really! With a game like Grid it is especially important because you need to see the changes in the track more quickly at the speed this game runs. Sharper graphics makes this easier

  • ligurmatic #11 3 years ago

I'd be nice if there were more tracks.

That's to say assuming there's not ones to unlock, since I only picked it up last week. But I've not been able to find a definitive list anywhere.

I didn't notice the difference between the PS3 and 360 when playing the demo. It was only having played the PS3 version I bought for a while that I noticed the difference when dipping back into the 360 demo. I'm almost tempted to trade it in for the 360 one

Reminds me i realy should play this game more. Love the game online and off.
  • sonsonate #14 3 years ago

    Lol @ dazrichards

Go get a decent PC and buy the game. 1920 * 1200 can't be beat, can it?
  • Rash' #15 3 years ago

dazrichards, I don't know. Grid ain't a 10 game, and Edge gave the PS3 version a 9, saying it was visually one of the most accomplished racers out there, so go figure.

IMO, the 360 version of GRID is more accomplished in terms of visual fidelity (better anti-alaising and less screen tearing) than the PS3 version... it's one of the reasons I opted for the 360 version... that plus the better controller (IMO obviously). The two games are very close but the 360 has the edge to my eyes (and TV!).

Some other developers have been able to coax the same performance out of the PS3 as the 360. For example, Burnout Paradise and the super awesome Pure demos look almost indistinguishable. It looks like PS3 developers are starting to get to grips with the hardware and we should see multiformat games on both platforms that look more and more indistinguishable from one another.

I bought the PS3 version because it looked bloody good. It's just that later I thought the 360 version looked sharper. Could partly be my TV settings of course

Becasue you realized that actually, it's not all that.

I don't know why people are talking about the insiginificant difference in the graphics. The anti-aliasing on the 360 version is better but only noticible for me in the menu screens. The in race graphics, gameplay, sounds are virtually identical. Achievements may be a benefit for some. But really with a game this equal on both platforms it's really down to personal preference of the controller - which for me meant PS3 version.

Anyway on topic, great to hear there is new content but will depend on the price.
