More full albums for Rock Band 2

Foo Fighters, Chili Peppers, No Doubt, etc.

A bundle of full albums will soon be available to download for Rock Band 2, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Topping the bill are The Colour and the Shape by Foo Fighters and Blood Sugar Sex Magic from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Then there's Jane's Addiction's Nothing's Shocking, Peace Sells... But Who's Buying from Megadeth, and Stevie Ray Vaughn's Texas Flood. A special 'best of' compilation will also be on offer for No Doubt fans.

There are already some full albums available, of course, including Judas Priest's Screaming for Vengeance and Doolittle by the Pixies. "We're suprised by how many people opted to get full albums," said MTV Games exec Paul Degooyer. "But it's a good value proposition. Talk about something that's been lost and forgotten." We'd like Steptacular and seminal Scooch album Four Sure next please, Paul.

Rock Band 2 for Xbox 360 is out in the States next month, with a European release date yet to be announced.

Now, let me see if I understand this correctly. This DLC will actually work on Rock Band 1 as well as 2, yes?

But seeing as we've no idea when RB2 will be coming to the UK/Europe, it's highly likely that we won't be able to purchase any of it until RB2 does come out here.
  • asphaltcowboy #4 4 years ago

The Colour and the Shape is pretty much my most favourite album ever...
  • DDevil #5 4 years ago

Me too asphaltcowboy. And BSSM is rather aces as well.
  • scene6 #6 4 years ago

I can't believe Nothing's Shocking is going to be on here! It's worth getting for Mountain Song alone. Looks like I'll be getting Rock Band 2 after all...

@ Rpt81: "But seeing as we've no idea when RB2 will be coming to the UK/Europe, it's highly likely that we won't be able to purchase any of it until RB2 does come out here."

Uh, why would RB2 not being out be any barrier to DLC being available in the UK? The whole point of Rock Band is it's a platform. Tracks released work in both versions so it doesn't matter what version of the software you have, you can just buy the DLC you want. I would be amazed if these albums couldn't work on RB1, after all why would Harmonix want to deny potential revenue from existing customers?
  • andywilkie35 #8 4 years ago

finally Harmonix have started doing what the fans of music have wanted, and are getting decent albums on there (apart from Doolittle, coz that was quality as well, but unfortunately the only decent album they've bothered doing so far)

Holy crap. Chilis and FF albums are a massive score!

The studio stuff in GH4 looks really interesting, but no amount of player generated content (however great some of it will inevitably be, in amongst all the shite that will inevitably surround it) is better than the classic albums we grew up to.

If RB manage to sort their drum and guitar peripherals out, GH is very unlikely to get my dosh in favour of them. If they don't manage to sort their peripherals out, I'll just have to scream into a pillow and then buy RB2 anyway whilst gritting my teeth and mumbling rude words.
  • kangarootoo #10 4 years ago

Didn't even get as far as Nothing Shocking.

    Total hat trick.
  • BettySwallocks #11 4 years ago

  • Feanor #13 4 years ago

Make it Siamese Dream and I'll buy a 360 and RB2.
  • vegard #14 4 years ago

blah. boring mainstream rock. not that it's hard to understand why.

but come on...give me the dillinger escape plan
  • stampax #15 4 years ago

As a UK PS3 owner, will i ever be able to buy rock band in this country?
  • Der_tolle_Emil #16 4 years ago

Why does nobody comment on Megadeth? Rust in Peace would have been awesome but still better than nothing. I just imagine it will be really hard to play, as always.
  • Robyrt #17 4 years ago

I'm not very excited about all this modern rock - but I suppose I should be quiet, as I already got full albums from Boston, Cars and (hopefully) Rush to soothe my classic rock needs.

Now if only they had some Styx on there...
  • basiclee #18 4 years ago

Peace sells... and I'll be buying.
  • spammage #19 4 years ago

I'm buying too, when we eventually get RB/RB2 on PS3. Seem to remember reading somewhere that downloads are interchangable between the two.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik is one of the finest albums ever recorded, lets hope it remains too. Looking forward to Megadeth too.

Saving grace is that we can buy GH4 for the instruments while waiting for RB2......
  • Zomoniac #20 4 years ago

FUCKING YES! I saw the headline and immediately clicked with the intention of writing "WANKERS, The Colour and the Shape is INFINITELY better than (whatever album I thought they might've chosen)". BEST.

And also... TEXAS FLOOD! Best song from any guitar game EVER. As long as you can buy the title track seperately I'll be in love.

See, this is why RB > GH (well, one of about 300 reasons).

Are you serious? The band that were booed off at Nottingham for being the worst band ever? And they weren't exactly supporting a mainstream rock band.
  • dudefella #22 4 years ago

Ugh, Peace Sells is great and all, but Rust in Peace would have been soooooo much better.
  • vegard #23 4 years ago

Zomoniac: i'm not calling the dillinger escape plan a mainstream rock band. and frankly i couldn't care less what people in Nottingham think. let them enjoy their disturbed, linkin park or whatever the flavour of the week is.

  • t8yman #24 4 years ago

@ zomoniac, listen to "Black Bubblegum" and tell me you didnt smile once. Its a feckin belter.
  • Iora #25 4 years ago

Pearl Jam's - Ten & Live's - Throwing Copper for me please... I have a granny that can be sold...
  • Zebula77 #26 4 years ago

Guess I'll buy the whole GH4 bundle and just order the game-only version of RB2 from the States, as the peripherals are said to be compatible either way.

Looking forward to this very much, yes.
  • PierrePressure #27 4 years ago

    Songs for the Deaf Pleassssssssseeeeee....
  • PierrePressure #28 4 years ago

Um, any chance of some Kyuss too?
  • PierrePressure #29 4 years ago

    Who am I talking to?
  • Zomoniac #30 4 years ago

I never said you were, or that they were. I said SOAD weren't.
  • gblegend #31 4 years ago

Foo's and RHCP's are great and I would agree that Ten by Pearl Jam would be great but I've said it before and I'll say it again, BadMotorFinger by Soundgarden woudl be fantastic.
  • phanlon #32 4 years ago

I own a PS3 and Wii and really annoyed I could not get RB1 last Christmas or just after! I won't be able to play RB2 likely until summer next year. I'm definately not gonna part with my £100 to buy RB1 in Oct 08 with instruments that are likely to break when GH4 is out in Nov 08 on all platforms with better quality instruments. Both games will be about the same so in Europe I think RB have limited their audience to the XBOX customers. Wii and PS3 got shafted and the sensible choice for them is GH4 purely because many folk already have GH3 which is compatible(both tracks and guitar) and if they buy RB1 they know RB2 is released about the same time in the world and others are having a ball playing all these cool new songs with the latest instruments. Why would we buy them knowing RB2 is released and about to make our RB1 instruments obsolete!
