Still looks like a PS2 game.
  • Eraysor #2 2 years ago

I actually think Torchlight looks prettier.
  • miiiguel #3 2 years ago

I'd be so happy if they decide to release this on the 360.
  • MaxHughes #4 2 years ago

Stop teasing us with screen shots and release the game already!!

Maybe its just me, but these don't seem to look as good as the eariler ones we saw from last year?
  • Shinetop #8 2 years ago

@ZuluHero: that's because they're standard brown drek and not colorful enough.

I'm kidding of course. But the interwebs are already full of people complaining that a desert level looks like the standard brown and grey, and that it should be more colorful. I wonder if it's the same people who complained about the blue and green 'wow gayness' in the earlier screenshots.

But, I must agree with you, it looks less interesting than the earliest shots.

@Eraysor - True that when I watch these particular screenshots, it really feels "sad", compared to Torchlight. Quite without life.

Is it me or this Diablo III now looking poo poo with the likes of Borderlands and Dragon Age offering something quite special. Diablo 1 & 2 were both both awesome in the day but back then we only had isometric )top down ish) RPG's. Yes, Torchlight is also pretty special and isometric but I reckon the price tag helps that a fair bit.

Just you, yes. Dragon Age being the best (counter)-example, anyhow, because it looks (and plays) a gazillion times better from the iso perspective.

I somehow doubt these are "new" screenshots, btw. I am certain I've seen all but one or two, if at all, last summer.

Though I enjoy rpg's,I'm fonding to much action that becoming a bit of a bore - these (Diablo) games need more puzzles, adventure without continuing to throw wave after wave of dumb enemies at you. Also more strategy in weapon and spell use - Demon's Soul did this well (Though a lot of grinding to level up spoiled this a bit for me), with adventure and weapon/spell rpg and strategy working with to create an real sense of adventure/rpg/action game!

Though I hope Diablo III will come to 360!

Diaablo isn't an RPG. Yes it has levels, skills, and items, but those do not make it an RPG. It's an action game through and through.

You'd be better off comparing it to Doom than to something like Dragon Age.
  • Vyggo #17 2 years ago

Seriously, why publish these screenshots. They show next to nothing and look like random shots I would make. Not doing the game any favors.
  • eizyark #18 2 years ago

i don't think comparing Diablo to DA: O is the best way to do it. Diablo has always been hack n' slash, while DA : O is a CRPG/WRPG game.

on topic, if only they could release the game this year... but i guess we all know that it will be released on 2011....

No no no no no! :) Leave this to the real RPGs. Diablo and similar games should not interrupt the zen-like monster-killing with obtrusive story elements or puzzles. It's all about the flow, and puzzles and story elements get boring from the second playthrough on, and these games are meant to be played several times.

Anyone else notice that they've added potions back into the game. I remember seeing this originally (last year) and asking how anyone would live long enough to enjoy it without being able to span the potion button in long battles. It felt like the new guys hadn't actually played a Diablo game at all. I asked them directly "What the heck does the player do when they get hit for half their health and the only way to heal is killing the creature that did it!"

I guess they finally thried playing their own game!
  • geeza2020 #21 2 years ago

c'mon Blizzard, make this for the 360, please? Dont make me buy a laptop for 300+ quid. I loved the originals back in the day (when I had a pc) and have been desperate for a game like it ever since. Cheers!
  • TitusCrow #22 2 years ago

Why cant they release it already! I saw all I needed to see when news was broken that they were doing it..was that last year? or the year before.. hmm! anyway, these shots are pointless and show damn all. I swear they would make it news if blizzard anounced that they were doing diablo bog roll.

Yeah I noticed a decrease in quality as well - more of a cartooney art style almost. Hate it, personally...

Is it me or do these screenshots look disturbingly...lifeless. I don't know, maybe they'll add in some doodads or props but most of them just look like an endless expanse of brown.
