More Borderlands DLC planned

Take Two CEO pleased with results.

Take Two has said to expect more Borderlands downloadable content.

"We'll continue to support the title with more digital content," CEO Ben Feder said in a financial results conference call.

The latest instalment, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, picked up a 9/10 review on Eurogamer recently.

The first two didn't do badly either. Check out our Zombie Island of Dr Ned and Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot reviews for more.

Feder said he was so pleased with the response that Borderlands DLC would become a template for future games.

    Yay, love borderlands.

Only Lvl 21 and bought Dr Zed zombie island but not started it yet, so cant comment on the DLC quality, but main game is great.

Only DLC that seems to be broken from reviews is the Mad Moxxi, sounds too hard doing 3 hour rounds, and as I play coop with only 1 othe it sounds too much of a grind. If it was made a bit easier would buy Mad Moxx as well.

That's good news. If there's one game that suits constant new stuff, it's Borderlands. Hopefully it'll turn out like Dr Ned and (so I've heard, I've not got round to playing it yet.) General Knoxx.

But on the other hand. I hope they're working on Borderlands 2.

I think we've maybe had enough DLC for Borderlands. Unless they being out an uber DLC which continues the main story, or adds to the talent trees. If not, please work on Borderlands 2 :)
  • NewbieZilla #4 2 years ago

I haven't gotten around to picking this up yet. With all the DLC, I don't want to be picking it up and then getting the DLC seperately. Wonder if they'll do a GOTY edition.

5 years from now all games will be episodic

Love Borderlands, zombie Island and General Knoxx. More DLC for Borderlands is a good thing IMO.

This is great news. Although there's a lot of content in the previous DLCs which I can't really play (the post-endgame stuff in Knoxx and pretty much the entirety of Mad Moxxi) since I'm a singleplayer Borderlander, my level 61 Roland is already itching for more action, levelling up and loot. Bring it on!

Cool. But please Gearbox, put some kind of bank for weapons in it so I don't have to buy the Moxxi DLC. (I'm a singleplayer kind of guy).

Until they fix the friends system and mic error on the PS3, they are not geting any more cash out of me. Oh and the fact it crashes when you try to launch online sometimes....

I count at least two "single player" in this thread, why don't you play together?

All the lonely people, where do they all come from?

I will likely buy it. Whatever it is.

It seems that DLC is proving a double edges sword. I know many people (myself included) who haven't grabbed the DLC yet for various reasons and with three packs out and more to come are now waiting on discounted bundles before buying. Also as we're seeing from these threads some people who want the game have been put off by the DLC plans and will just wait for the inevitable "Gold Release" that contains all of the additional content on a bonus disc.

I think in this particular instance DLC may be harming Borderlands as well as helping it, some good decisions from Take2 however regarding bundle releases can reverse that and get more people on board, I think it's fair to say that where DLC is concerned these guys are top of the pile when it comes to consumer goodwill.

I think in this case the original game had tons of content and the DLC (other than Moxxi) has been of a high enough quality and brimming with enough new content, that buying it has been an easy decision. Other than probably Fallout I'd say the Borderlands content has been the best around and Gearbox has completely nailed what I hope to get from all DLC in the future.

    Look forward to playing more!

Perhaps for some games but not all.

This model is proving successful right now for these role-playing shooters and I see no reason to change it.

I like the fact that I have a great main game that stands alone. Quality extra content available as and when I want it but not vital to 'finish' the standalone game.

I think it is great they are continuing to support this, it really is a great game and whilst I know they are just out to make money from us they are at least giving us quality DLC to expand our enjoyment instead of crappy new suits or cars that we often see.

Given the size and scope of the DLC it's amazing how fast Gearbox are carting it out. I'd love to know just how they do it. Have they discovered a way not to need sleep? Or is it really clever tools that do all the hard slog - populating maps with loot and enemies etc without needing tweaking? Even then, everything else involved in the design of the DLC...I don't know how they do it.
  • JimWest #19 2 years ago

I see this sort of DLC only a good thing for myself and also the games industry. With the continuing support for games like this, it will keep me playing them for much longer with it adding much more gameplay than some brand new games that do come out, thus i end up indirectly save money.

Plus for the industry it means less trade ins and more sales of DLC, so the money is going to the actual people that deserve my coin, the developers, rather than the shops that give, low Trade in values and high preowned prices!

    Also Borderlands rules!

"I count at least two "single player" in this thread, why don't you play together? "

coz I'm billy no mates..... everyone's either stopped playing or I just simply don't get the time to play online...
  • metalangel #21 2 years ago

I hope one of these next DLCs is an arena!
  • Trinod #22 2 years ago

    Good news :-)

If you run out of weapon space, you can create another character as a 'mule' and offload your stuff to them via splitscreen, or so i read.

More fast travel stations in large DLC pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  • bongofury #23 2 years ago

I really like Borderlands as well but haven't bought any of the DLC, I only have a launch 20Gig 360 and with all the Rockband and GTA downloads/imports I have 2 gig of space to play with at any one time so using 1.6gig for the Knoxx download is going to be problematic... I would like to wait until they release all 3 on disk although i read that they are only releasing the first 2 dlc packs on disk which seems a missed opportunity.

So many bloody games so little HD space... Now i have had my xbox for nearly 4 years and managing with the 20gig, is it too far into the lifecycle to invest in a 120 or 250 gig HD? Won't microsoft just announce the next xbox in a year after they have tested Natal on all of us early adopters??
  • makeamazing #24 2 years ago

I played Borderlands initially on a free rental, but purchased it when it became £17 or something on play, not gone back to it yet, but its good that there is lots of content available for it, if i decide i want to play more than just the game :)

I'm guessing the new content maps to new trophies?
  • Murton #25 2 years ago

Fogheart: the random loot generator probably does a lot of the work for them. They're also probably polishing up world assets that weren't used in the core game to speed up map creation and re-using enemy models and just tweaking the stats. Even with these shortcuts though it's astonishing how quickly they're turning these rounds without any sacrifice of quality, and it's the quality that is most refreshing here, a very talented team for certain, though we already knew that from their back catalogue.

    @octavedoctor

I'll play with you mate. Will buzz you on MSN :)
  • metalangel #27 2 years ago

@bongofury: get a new hdd. I only got a 60gig but it really makes a difference, installing games makes em load faster and all but eliminates the wear on and noise from your DVD drive.
  • passions_glory #28 2 years ago

hey matalangel, look on ebay, you can get a good 250GB hard drive for around $70, my friend bought one off ebay and it works perfectly (not saying that they all will). If you need one cheap look there.
