More Assassin's Creed coming

It'll be around for years, says bossman.

Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot has said we can expect to see the Assassin's Creed brand knocking around for "years to come".

He was speaking in a conference call following the release of the company's financial results, as reported by Kotaku.

Looks like at least one sequel is likely, then, which is hardly surprising when you consider 6 million copies of the original have been sold so far. That figure is "better than expected", apparently.

Meanwhile Ubisoft is busy fixing bugs in the PC version of the game, which came out on April 11th.

Maybe they can make it an actual game this time instead of a glorified tech demo.

great! i know many hated it but i had great fun playing AC
  • asphaltcowboy #3 4 years ago

    Great news, but unsurprising!
  • louyfitz #4 4 years ago

I dunno why but I really liked AC, I know it was pretty much a lengthy tech demo like Huntcjna said, but prehaps this time they improve on giving it that finished feel.

Combat was fun for a while, next time more moves, lots more. I did like hacking guards with a sword tho.

Fantastic if slightly unsuprising. A sequal will give them a chance to sort out the flaws that stopped the first game becoming brilliant.

I really did love the first one, it just clicked with me for some reason. Yes it's obvious they just ran out of time, and things were left out, but where the repeated missions (flawed as they were) were game breaking for some, I actually found it quite relaxing and enjoyable to play, it also helped that I found the story interesting. For me the combat and even freerunning never got boring, even the ending which people complained about for being basically one big fight for me was great fun and made perfect sense within the story.....

I'd even go as far as to say, i'd pick the sequel up for this over anything else on the day.......can't wait!

........Only no pimping Jade this time, trying to sell the game for something it clearly wasn't! Which I think is another problem alot of people had with it!

Fix the The UBER boring missions and I am all for it but right now I'd rather you get going on a Beyond good and Evil sequel for crying out loud ... We have been waitin for years!!
  • Paleface #9 4 years ago

"Around for years to come" == "Going on for-bloody-ever".
  • SEVQA #10 4 years ago

Ubi owe me whatever they wish to call a sequel for free as assassin creed had no ending worthy of £50 in my opinion.

Ubi make your games with decent endings worthy of the cost of the game, not with a loose cliff hanger like an episode of Heroes, also we only have to wait a week to see what happens next! With a game a year maybe more!

    FIX UP!
  • japstersam #11 4 years ago

i think a sequel was super-obvious given the ending of the first one!
  • bushwod #12 4 years ago

I have to agree that AC was great fun and I played through to the end without getting bored. The only bad things I can say about it was the over use (and hence boredom) of the counter move and those horrible 'blue' walls that made everything slow down in tight corners.

However, I would defiantly prefer the sequel to have more interesting and unique mission. I would prefer to have to complete 2/3 unique missions for each assignation rather than 1/6 dull and repetitive missions.

The first was a bit like GTA3, it was so much fun to play in the world it didn't matter that a lot of the missions were so dull, but they need to work on this next time round.

All I ask is that the next installment actually makes me think. AC is a bit of a no brain, fun and good looking no brainer but still.

I'm hoping for something in the modern day that doesn't jump all over the place, hell with the that runs it they could challenge GTA ... but then I remember its Ubisoft!!

"Ubi owe me whatever they wish to call a sequel for free as assassin creed had no ending worthy of £50 in my opinion."

So you buy games for their endings?

You'd be well disappointed with mario then, "holly crap, he rescued the princess. Didn't see that coming!".

    @bushwod

At least it had an ending!

It'd be worth seeing how much the second hand market made from this game, as whenever I'm looking in Game for pre-owned games I always see loads of copies of Assassins Creed.

That's not to say it's a bad game, I'm really enjoying playing it (£25 pre-owned thanks very much!) - for stints of an hour or so at a time - this is not a game for long sessions by any means, the repitition would get beyond a joke.

I'm almost at the end, and am quite intriigued to see what happens - but I will say this, whilst the game has it's faults, I have loved playing this game, it's a refreshing change to use swords etc, and leap about like a loon rather than shoot shoot shoot.

    Looking forward to a second.

Although Ubisoft - I would love to see a second Naruto game that focuses on Shippudden - you know, now Naruto and all are much more uber than before! ;)

just so long as they fill that sandbox
  • WillyWanka #18 4 years ago

It WILL be around for years. There is NO escape. Bow down to our might, puny human
  • Madafunkola #19 4 years ago

I'm pretty sure that it was always touted as "the first game in the Assass(ass)ins Creed franchise" from the outset.
  • wewillselfdestruct #20 4 years ago

As everybody else has already said on a million comments threads before, the sequel needs to have more variety in it's missions. Great map and great graphics do not equal a great game.

But the one thing that I want more than anything is some characters I give a crap about. I haven't encountered such a bunch of unsympathetic, boring misanthropes since FFVIII.

Also lose the lepers and beggers. If by including them Ubi's intention was to simply infuriate the end user, then congrats: mission accomplished.

I was under the impression that from the outset it was a trilogy. Plenty more assassinering to go yet.
  • mikeck #22 4 years ago

    @MBar

Assassinering...I like it, could become the more intense (and of course violent) version of orienteering perhaps? :)
  • Ignatius_Cheese #23 4 years ago

Perhaps they can get round to finishing off the story to XIII as well, if they've got some spare time on their hands...
  • Dante_Cubit #24 4 years ago

It should be GTA Jerusalem not some fucking find the flags Mecca Mario.

    Can't fault the visuals though.
  • DAN.E.B #25 4 years ago

yeah but how much will it be?

    "just a few coins!?"

    sold!!!!!
  • ElephantMonkey #26 4 years ago

I hope they don't make it over complicated due to all these complaints of the game being dull. For me the simplicity of the missions was what made it fun.
  • DFawkes #27 4 years ago

Might be a bit harsh MrMilad, even if it is a bit true. I'm loving AC at the moment, but having read various threads I'm expecting a rubbish ending.
