Monthly subs for PS Store?

Sony Asia suggests so.

Lots of good things come out of Hong Kong like John Woo and Bruce Lee cinema and rumours that Sony is planning a monthly subscription for its PC PlayStation Store.

These high-kicked into news chops after PlayStation Asia whipped a poll onto its site to gauge interest in a number of areas.

When asking what you found most appealing as an offer on the Store it suggested a monthly subscription plan to grant unlimited PSP game downloads and possibly Kung Fu although I am not sure I can say that and now face unemployment for the second time this week.

Sony UK offered no comment about it and suggested there was little more than information-gathering behind it all.

Sounds like a rather good idea to us, though.

Depends on price and rate of updates, as that's been pretty poor so far, at least over here.

Indeed, if it was to result in the store getting updated more often to at least as much as Japan and US then I say go for it

As long as it wasnt mandatory, it sounds like a good idea for those people that are hardcore enough to buy things every month

That wouldn't be so bad to have available. I could do with unlimited access to wallpapers. Hang on...

    I just want Wipeout HD...

OMG YES! Wipeout HD! I wants.

You'd need a wide variety of content and regular updates first. At the moment there's nothing to justify a monthly subscription.

No it's not, the original Playstation Asia poll asked if the user wants to pay a monthly fee for unlimited downloads from the store which included all game content available. They also had a bonus option to the "fee"-question, so if you'd add amount X to your wallet they add amount X + bonus percentage to it depending on how much you add, which is the option I'd choose.

They should throw in a separate area on the PSN for these subscribers to play each other online as well...

and call them gold accounts... and then people with regular accounts, should lose the right to play games online. maybe they could be known as silver accounts. ooh ooh hang on, and the regular accounts could also be denied access to demos for the first week of their release! and as well as a subscription fee gold members probably ought to pay for downloads... even lame ones like themes.

I'm not sure that a subscription really counts as a back door charge does it? Not unless you sleepwalk pretty severely and don't know you have signed up to things in the middle of the night.

The survey is for the Playstation Store for PC, and yes it is primarily for PSP owners without a PS3, but they are also selling Playstation 1 titles there, that can be played on the PS3.
  • VMerken #15 4 years ago

Well, that'd certainly be nice if I could cancel the subscription at any given moment and all PSP games are available for download at the store. Something tells me I'd have to pay €1000 per month then, though :).

Eurogamer not living up to it's own resolutions, twice in one day a whole 4 days into the new year? There's them commercial pressures, I guess. Ah well. Was a nice thought I guess.

They should bring in system like microsoft points where you can buy credit or points which you can use to buy items from store I do not like useing cards on line rather go to game shop and stock up on points when I want addon and mini games it works better than monthly fee as there is often nothing you want in store.
  • muftak #18 4 years ago

    @visionrider

no the points system is rubbish i rather have something that tells me in hard cash how much something is not how many points or stars.

Btw you know that PSN cards are on the way just hit the stores in the USA over Christmas wont be long now , that's something I've been waiting for
