Monster Hunter Tri bundles Wii Speak

Plus: split-screen confirmed.

Monster Hunter Tri's coming to European Wiis in April, and there will be three ways for you to buy the game.

The first way is solus (the game only). The latter two options are bundles: one with a black Classic Controller Pro, the other with Wii Speak and a black Classic Controller Pro.

Wii Speak is one of the European additions to the action RPG, as we told you in a hands-on piece last year.

Monster Hunter Tri will be playable both in split-screen and online, so there should always be a helping hand around for a big boss take-down.

Whether these extras will be enough to spark European fervour for the series remains to be seen. Capcom's determined to win our hearts.

    I'd be far more interested if it was tarted up and released on a console with a better online infrastructure. The addition of voice chat helps a little but I don't fancy another white lump of plastic sat by the TV.

    Can anyone confirm or deconfirm that this game has terrible, terrible loading times? I saw a video once where the character walked ten steps, then loading screen, another ten steps, then a loading screen, dived into the water, loading screen and so on.. Is that true?

    @charliemouse

    I hear MH:Frontier is being ported to the 360.

    @MORZTAN

    If it’s anything like the PS2/PsP versions then it might be. "10 steps" between each one is an exaggeration though.

    I’m really glad this is coming to Europe. Seems like we’ve been waiting for this for ages…

    More like twenty steps, but it was still pretty bad in Unite.

    I really wish Capcom would make a proper 360/PS3 version, instead of simply using the same assets as the PS2 original over and over. The engine hasn't changed in the last 6 years.

    Thanks... And Damn!!

    But hey, more time to play other games :D

    I already have a classic controller but I'm tempted to get the classic pro bundle...
    I'm definitely getting the game, that's for sure!

    While it's true that the original CC is an unruly abomination that should have never been unleashed upon mankind, I don't really feel like plunking the money for another controller, especially when it should have been like that from the beginning (I'm also looking at you, Sixaxis). I'll keep this one.

    @MORZTAN: uhm... my MH3 demo does have relatively long load times, especially when compared to MHG, which is a lot faster. But I don't think the demo is a good indication of a the final product. I mean, it doesn't have Lancers, so it sucks. And it looks blurry too.

    the japanese version doesn't have particularly long loading times - about the same as the PSP, i'd say, but with bigger areas inbetween.

    Running Unite off my memstick and all is well with loadtimes.

    Tempted by the game with the classic pro, lovely looking controller. My only worry is that people tell me it has less content and variety than Unite.

    Not sure if I'll buy it or not...

    I kind of feel I should buy it due to it being a hardcore Wii game with a decent budget....but I just don't find the gameplay of these titles appealing...and there are too many other Wii games coming out that I'd buy ahead of this.

    If they had stuck these monsters in a Wii version of Dino Crisis with RE4 style gameplay..I'd be there day one.
  • Malek86 #13 2 years ago

    @CallousB: as a general rule, I usually don't buy a game unless I think I will like it. The whole "supporting developers" thing feels a bit stretched, anyway. I'm just going to let someone else buy it, someone who likes that kind of game. If they made that game, it means they know there will be someone who likes it, and there's no need for me to get it too. If it ends up being not successful enough, it means the developer overestimated their chances and their possible customers. Too bad for them.

    Crossing Metroid Prime Collection off my 'must have' list and putting this in it's place...don't let me down, Capcom!!! I'd love to play a 3rd party Wii game that's worth my time
  • KDR_11k #15 2 years ago

    I'll probably check it out since I haven't played MH games before.

    I'm just back from playing it today in London (I think the Eurogamer chap was there too). Loading times are fine (about the same as playing Freedom Unite on a PSP Go if you're interested). Each map is made of zones and each zone takes about 3 seconds to load max I'd say. I certainly wasn't put out by it.

    Very nice being able to swim in the water. The monsters have a bit more varied behaviour too. One thing I did notice is that there are now no paintballs - the big monsters are always on your map. There's two player offline co-op mode on one console too.

    I'm looking forward to this, especially the 2-player split-screen.

    On the French version of the Monster Hunter Tri page on the Nintendo website, they call the pack with the game and classic controller the "Pro" pack and the one with game, controller and Wii Speak the "Ultimate Hunter" pack. Can't wait to get my hands on that last one...

    Anyone seen any UK sites selling the bundles????

    what im confused about, is that when you go over to a frends place to play on their Wii, can you bring your character with you or will you have to start from scratch? what id like is something like the xbox360's memory card, that allows you to transfer you profile to other xbox'x. Any clues?
