Monster Hunter to get weekly DLC

PSP game will expand over coming months.

Capcom plans to offer new and free content for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite every Friday over the coming months.

Last Friday saw the arrival of the first batch of DLC, which adds a Triumvirate of Sands quest where Daimyo Hermitaur, Tigrex and Plesioth monsters lurk in a desert locale.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite began its Western campaign earlier this month. Pop over to our Monster Hunter Freedom Unite review to see what the fuss is about.

Good news, especially considering I'm just booting the game for the first time while reading this.

It's actually the second set of DLC. There were a couple of quests and some extra content available at launch.

wouldn't it make sence to release one of these moster hunter games on PC, Xbox and PS3?

Was about to post that, surely the online infrastructure of those platforms compliments MH's online well and deserves at least a look in?

Monster Hunter is like Pokemon, just never been that popular outside of its handheld roots

Except Monster Hunter's roots are the PS2.

It's coming to Wii, which might be nice. The PS3 version was shelved because Capcom thought it would be too expensive to develop. Whereas on the Wii they can just add a bit of polish to the original assets.

I'm sure Pokemon would be a success outside of the handheld market IF a proper console version was actually produced.

You just wonder if Capcom is questioning the decision about moving Monster Hunter to the Wii.

The PS3/Capcom scenario has turned around a bit from 2007 hasn't it.....Capcom were then pretty critical of the PS3 and its cost and return, yet for 2009 they're forecasting the PS3 to be its largest revenue driver.

I wonder if the situation will change over time for other third parties.

I wish the game was as easy as Pokemon.

Itis challenging to say the least, but with the increased challenge comes a greater reward when you complete a quest.

i guess as monster hunter is really popular in japan and both the xbox and ps3 are not very popular in japan, i guess it make sence to not put a ton of cash into something that might not sell well.

but if it was put on something else it might sell out side of japan, i remember playing one on the PS2 and thinking its quite a cool idea, but taking the ps2 online was to much hassle and not exactly great either, but ifthe was one i could play over live/psn i would be interested. infact its those sorts of game i would like to see more of on live over the the usual shooter, we have enough online shooters, be nice to have something else.

but Lost Planet 2 is looking like a bit of shooter/monster hunter mix.

Started playing MHFU over the weekend and it's really nice so far (have only been doing the training missions) but not really accessible. But I like a challenge. ;)

Not sure whether it would work as well on a home console though. I know it started out on PS2 (like others have mentioned) but it wasn't much of a success on that system IIRC. The theme of the game, being a bunter and being out there in the wilderness, just suits a portable better IMO.
