Monster Hunter in Lost Planet 2 PS3

Plus: Frank West is back!

Capcom has revealed more playable guest stars for Lost Planet 2: Dead Rising's Frank West, and a splendidly armoured hunter from the Monster Hunter games.

The Monster Hunter will be exclusive to PS3 owners of the game, just as Gears of War's Marcus and Dom will be available to Xbox 360 owners.

Owners of both platforms can enjoy the much-petitioned return of Dead Rising's insouciant hero Frank West, even if it's not in his own game series. He has a giant teddy bear on his back, obviously. West joins fellow Capcom star Albert Wesker from the Resident Evil series.

IGN has shots and details.

Lost Planet 2 is out stupidly soon: it has its global launch on 11th May. "It's pretty clear that Takeuchi and company have come up with something very special," said Kristan in his recent Lost Planet 2 hands on. "With a campaign mode that has the potential to become one of the most essential co-op games ever made, and hugely entertaining VS-based multiplayer insanity to indulge in, Lost Planet 2 is a sign of Capcom getting back to its best."

I rather have Marcus and Dom. Is there even a Monster Hunter game for the PS3?

At this rate they're going to have the entire Capcom side of Tatsunoko vs Capcom in the game.

Capcom really are gearing their company to be as fan pleasing as possible. I for one welcome a company that moves in this direction, and here's hoping more companies actually focus on their fans instead of their investors. This is what video gaming should be all about - instead of 1200 MP for 5 maps.

How many gimmicks are they trying to pack into this game? Because if it's a way of trying to sell a poor game, then it isn't working on me.

    lol opinions

Played the demo and loved it. The boss battles really do bring out an epic co-op experience, and how fitting to have a monster Hunter in the game. Would be awesome if his gear changed to match the monster you were 'hunting' ;)

...and, when you're about to cripple a particularly tough boss, he summons his equally particularly tough attorney, Phoenix Wright, who appears MK-'toasty'style, pointing at the edge of the screen, and a giant cartoon speech bubble OBJECTION! is witnessed front-center blocking your view - served! :D

Gears dudes and Monster hunter fit in just great. Wesker and West however doesnt.

The way that first sentence is constructed, it sounds as if the new Lost Planet game is called "Lost Planet 2: Dead Rising's Frank West" - that's a game I want to try!
