Monkey Island SE heading to iPhone?

Lucas tweet drops big hints.

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition may be on its way to iPhone, judging by LucasArts' impressively subtle use of its company Twitter.

A post on Friday links to an image (thanks vg247) with the caption, "For our Monkey fans - an iPhone sized wallpaper. No reason. Wink wink nod nod."

The special edition of Monkey Island is due out on Steam and Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday, 15th July, and has been developed internally at LucasArts.

Look out for our review then, or check out our Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal review to see how Telltale got on with the much-anticipated episodic revamp.

    The Steam back catalogue one?

I didn't really see the huge anticlimax. It was fairly obvious that the old point n' click games would get a re-release. Anyone know if they're going to release a boxed version for this on the PC? I like cases.

I'll be buying this for sure - dont care the price!

I'll say it again - for anyone who has been disappointed with LucasArts completely ignoring the existence of their back catalogue for nigh on 10 years, their announcement was huge news! It continues the steps in the right direction that the company seems to be taking lately. And there's more to come.

    Ah, ok.

I am pretty sure DOTT will see a "special edition" treatment, if MI sells well enough.

The thing is though, SoMI looked OLD! It made sense that they would enhance the look, sound etc. DotT, on the other hand, still looks and sounds great. I'll still buy an enhanced edition on the first day, but I don't feel the upgrade will be quite as worth it.

The Steam announcement was worth it for Fate of Atlantis.

Playing LucasArts adventures on the iPhone is great, ScummVM has it spot on and the graphics are bearable on a small screen. Curse of Monkey Island looked great.

I imagine if they do more remakes it'll be for the most dated ones without talkie versions. DOTT still doesn't look too bad for my eyes and has a pretty good voice track that doesn't really need re-recording.

Adventure games are perfect for the Iphone, I've used Scummvm on my Palm TX (With the same sized screen as a Iphone) and my PSP, and even Monkey Island 3 works :)

It's already on the iPhone with the usage of ScummVM.

never even thought about jailbreaking my iphone till i heard about the scumm vm... question: how easy is to do?

(jailbreak & set up the scumm vm)

To unlock a iphone, check youtube videos like everyone else does... or if you feel technical search Lifehacker...

But remember, if it breaks you are screwed (So back everything up and reclaim on insurance if it locks up, DON'T TELL APPLE)
