LeChuck Revenge for PC, PSN, XBLA.

LucasArts will adapt The Secret of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge for PC, PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and iPhone this summer.

But poor old PS3 still hasn't received The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, although the publisher said this will arrive in "a few weeks".

The Secret of Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge returns to life with high-definition graphics, remastered sound and a triple-tiered hint system. Guybrush can be controlled directly rather than clicked around, too.

On top of that will be audio commentary from the game's creators plus the ability to switch between original and revamped presentations. New voice acting by the usual cast will be present in both versions.

Last summer's Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition proved that the old LucasArts adventure remains as essential today as it was a million years ago at release.

Splendid.

Shame I only completed it on SCUMMVM a couple of weeks back.

Without wishing to spoil it for anyone, I had forgotten how utterly splendid the ending is.

Great news for me, kind of expected though, given the warm reception of last summer's Monkey 1 remake.

Well, the screenshots look surprisingly good compared to the rather horrid first SE. Now if they'll also fix the subtitles and UI, I'm happy. (I'd also like to see some more frames in the animations, but I'm not holding my breath for that.)

That's nice... I always considered Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge to be the best game in the series anyway plus it has one weird-as-hell ending.

Good to see you can play with voices in the original version. I'm expecting music wil be the same. Although... now that we don't use midis anymore, the iMuse should be more difficult to implement.

Either way, I'll get this as soon as it comes out.

Really can't wait for this!

Glad to see they listened to complaints and now allow us to use the voice overs with the classic graphics. The character models look MUCH better this time around too. I'd almost buy the game again on the PSN if they updated it like this. (Guybrush looked very wierd in Secret's Special Edition).

Hopefully we'll see the third one re-released shortly after as well. There's not really any work that needs done to it.

Instabuy. On PC AND XBLA.

They even used the LeChuck concept Steve Purcell drew aaaaaaages ago (with the dead bird on the hat).

Character translations look good (unlike Stan in the first SE) and I don't know if they lifter the backgrounds from the original art, but they're perfect.

Wonder if they'll do a CMI SE? They already have (relatively) Hi Res backgrounds and the voice tracks, but the art design is very different from these special editions. Would be nice to have a complete set of the "proper" trilogy and a choice between the great SVGA graphics or something in keeping with the reimagined storybook style...

I don't think the sequel has "The Secret of" in the title. But hey ho. As long as they don't mess up the glorious iMuse soundtrack in the same way they replaced the interactive MIDI music with unintuitive CD music in the X-Wing/TIE-Fighter remakes in the late 90s ("Jabba the Hutt's theme? In space? What?" I'll be happy.

They SHOULD release CMI on XBLA/PSN/iPhone even if they don't bother updating anything.

Fate of Atlantis, DOTT and S&M could benefit from this sort of do-over, and Tales of Monkey Island HAS to come out on XBLA and PSN, especially if they can port it to the iPhone as rumours suggest.

@Malek86 they managed to get a servicable iMuse transition using "proper" music in CMI, so hopefully not too difficult to implement. There were some EXCELLENT unofficial MP3s of the MI2 soundtrack floating around the various fan sites a while back. Hopefully they can do it justice.

Awesome, really seems to have nailed the niggles with the original SE look as well. I'd still like an option for original graphics plus voiceovers but this still has to be a day one purchase for me.

Shame there's no chance of an additional "The real Secret of Monkey island revealed or your money back" style bonus.

I know it's crazy, but I haven't been this excited about a game announcement in a long, long time. Probably since Red Alert. I can't guarantee for anything once it's DOTT that gets announced. I'll prolly jump out the office window in joy.

Everything looks decent now except for Elaine and she has gone horribly wrong. Her head is too fat, her chin is made out of straight lines, her legs are too short and her hair seems like she wears a toupee on top of a bald head. Also the colours are ...not nice.

This is a good indication of what may be coming in the future. They still have classics like Day of the Tenticle and the awesome Grim Fandango they could port over. Hope that we get all the Monkey Island series and more as i love being reminded of what started the gaming industry.
