MOH Airborne patched on PC News

PC News by Robert Purchese

10 March, 2008

Electronic Arts has popped out a fresh update for Medal of Honor Airborne on PC.

It makes the war a bit more interesting by offering Hunt Classic and Heraklion maps in multiplayer, the option to swap rifles for other weapons on dedicated servers, and a new Objective Mode.

Personally we are much more excited about being able to broadcast announcements to everyone on the server. Yes you do have to be an administrator, but a little bit of this and that and here and there and Bob's your uncle.

You can start downloading the update from the Medal of Honor Airborne site where, incidentally, you can get all the past patches.

Why? Because Medal of Honor Airborne is really rather good, as our review explains.

I really wish they had the pc multiplayer up to scratch from the beginning. As it is it feels like too little too late which is really disappointing.

Can MOH:A be unpacked with the UnrealEd for Unreal 2, or at least the textures for editing? I do so loathe the cowardly bowdlerising of swastikas in certain WW2 games (yes yes I know they're illegal in Germany), and would like to have the ugly-yet-historically-accurate banners and badges back, pretty please. Swastika=Nazi Party=Third Reich=WW2, you can't separate them. Anyway, 'fighting the Germans' just sounds like an England hooligan's holiday plans - 'fighting the Nazis' is so much more heroic, albeit in our comfy-chair-and-mousepad kind of way.

Oh, and an AI tweak to stop my moronic squadmates from bouncing their own grenades off objects directly in front of them, and thence onto my feet, would be delightful.
