ModNations Racers dated for May

UK street date likely to be 28th.

Sony's PS3 game ModNation Racers will be released on 25th May in North America and later that week in PAL regions.

It's not set in stone, wrote the European PlayStation blog, but should all go to plan then 28th May will be the UK street date.

The European box art, containing some of your player/car designs from the beta, has also been posted on the blog.

The US PlayStation blog, meanwhile, has pictures of the pre-order character bonuses on offer. Buy from GameStop and you'll receive Kratos and his Kart of Chaos; buy from Amazon and you'll be able to race as Ratchet or Clank; or buy from Best Buy and bag Nathan Drake and his Jungle Jeep.

Each of those gets another special Kart and Mod to play around with, but they're a secret for now.

Keep your eyes on the European PlayStation blog for PAL plans.

A week after 3D Dot Game Heroes. May looks like another busy month. As long as they greatly reduce the loading times and fix the frame rate and camera issues, then the game should be really good. The beta was fun, apart from those few issues i mentioned.

I was hoping this was further out as the beta seemed extremely rough and early to me. Hopefully they're polishing the hell out of it right now.

One of my most anticipated games rearly. Played the beta which was obviously a bit rough but i won't deny it's made me a bit cautious. Hopefully it'll turn out great though.

A recent post by the devs on the PSBlog indicates that is exactly what they worked on recently.

    linky

I'd love a new demo to confirm the enhancements. I think sorting the framerate out would be a big benefit to the handling too.

The beta turned me off the game. Aside from being buggy and slow (understandable in a beta) I just didn't think the game had much charm. I think if it had been more like LBP with cute but literally insane character, car & track design it might be more appealing to me.

@DrDamn : Sound good but I'm pretty sceptical anyway - sure they have improved it, but have they improved it enough? They haven't promised a rock solid framerate for example.

Really interested in this one myself but I doubt it'll be a day one purchase due to reservations on performance and longevity. I just don't see myself playing this as long as I did LBP.

I'm starting to feel as though I've seen too much of this, and each time I see a new article, I feel like engaging caps lock and typing "just release the bloody game, already." Now I find out that May has become "end of", instead. I'm not really that excited about MNR, at all, now. Not having it instantly accessible from the XMB, I think, may also prove to be a mistep by them.

    @Beano
True - that's why I want a new demo. When I played with the Beta even a very basic user created track had frame rate issues. They do re-iterate in the comments that "we’ve been putting a high priority on both the framerate and the load times. They are both much improved.". We shall see.

The create side of things was really exceptional - very good example of how to do this sort of thing well - just crying out for the rest of the elements to work well really.

Beta was fun BUT was way to glitchy and just jumpy/slow etc

Really war to try an upto date demo or something to confirm it's alot better before I'd consider buying.
    Making stuff was fun tho!
