ModNation Racers heading to PSP

First screenshots and trailer.

Sony has announced plans to release a PSP version of ModNation Racers.

Like the PS3 version developed by United Front Games, the PSP ModNation Racers is a kart racing game where you can make your own avatar and racetracks.

It promises "all of the features of the PS3 version", including the ability to create, upload and share courses.

It also promises single-player and multiplayer modes just like its big brother, and will be released at the same, as-yet unannounced time.

Multiplayer will be six-player over ad-hoc, apparently.

The PS3 version of ModNation Racers recently went through an open beta on PlayStation Network and is scheduled for release this year.

Check out the first screenshots to see what all the potential fuss may end up being about. There's a trailer on the PlayStation Blog.

Hooray! Due to how much I've enjoyed LittleBigPlanet on PSP, this news makes me very happy indeed.

Very good news ,this game is specially conveyed for a handheld ,and as LBP PSP has shown the editor can be really good ....

Say what you want ,but Sony is giving the PSP some serious support despite the mad piracy and the weak software sales. It will end up having a monster catalogue.

LBP PSP is pure genius, it's almost - but not quite - on par with the PS3 iteration. The soundtrack rocks, everything works like a charm, il love the "static" option, one that should have been in the PS3 game instead of needing to build dark matter platforms to have things suspended on thin air!

One PSP game I was puzzled about was Motorstorm. You can actually brake, wait 15 seconds, and then no matter if you have just passed another car, it will take them 15 seconds to pop up back again on track! This is not really racing... I just tried it for a while though, maybe on harder courses it gets better.

Tekken 6 is good in my book too.

PSP adaptations aren't rubbish, they're Home Console Quality! Looking forward to Modnation. Kart races isn't my thing. But the creative community aspect has a lot of appeal after LBP.

And then there's the excellent PATAPON!!

The PS3 Modnation Racers is really crippled by slow loading times. I hope it improves before release. The racing mechanics feels pretty much like Mario Kart. I'm not sure all the modding really adds much to the equation, partly because the characters feel so soulless. I reckon if it were built around Sackboy of captured the same whacked out mentality as LBP it would have been a lot more fun.
