Modern Warfare 2 double-XP weekend

Infinity Ward has revealed plans for a double-XP weekend for Modern Warfare 2 when the upcoming Stimulus Package DLC goes live.

"Mark the calendars now! April 2nd - 5th marks the first Double XP weekend on #MW2 for #xboxlive worldwide. New Maps + Double XP = No sleep," IW's Robert Bowling tweeted.

"PS3 will also get Double XP when DLC hits PSN, although that comes later," he added. DLC for other platforms is expected around a month after the Xbox Live release on 30th March, due to an exclusivity deal with Microsoft.

The Stimulus Package DLC introduces five multiplayer maps - three new, and two brought back from the original Modern Warfare.

    I think they must want everyone to Prestige when the new maps come out. Well, I'm gonna take to these babies at level 70 and that's the end of that matter!

    I may play, but I won't be playing with the new maps. There's no way I'm forking out 1200MS points. Hopefully others will feel the same.

    I see they're advertising the Stimulus Pack with 2 free months of Gold membership (on xboxlive)
    Guess they have to make the 1200MSP worth it somehow.
    I might give it a quick go as I was so near my 1st prestige before I stopped playing but that bfbc2 is just too much fun (and I've just built myself a lovely new PC)

    That'll be so the servers can keep putting those w/o the new maps into a game with the new map in the vain hope you will buy them to stop that damn nag screen trying to sell them too you.

    Another reason to avoid MW2 for me.

    Soo...this is the first Double-XP-Weekend they host since the launch of the game...almost 5 months !! after launch-date. And PS3/PC players will have to wait even longer!
    C'mon, first a slap in the face with the pricing of the already-on-yer-disc-DLC....and now this?
    BF:BC2 at least has the decency to make their stuff available within 2 months after launching, and MAG throws in some weapons and player-skins for free. It's not much, but at least it's FREE and it's available on short notice after their initial launch-dates.
    MW2....Sooo not regretting taking this back to the store and swapping it for GoW3..KRATOS FTW!!!

    The only problem I have with this is that I'll be back in the UK and away from my regulkar set up, and will be "forced" to play on a 22" monitor.

    And Easter festivities will stop me playing a big period. I shall make the most of it around that though. It's a hard life...

    Might jump back on, if they do the PC. Will not be paying the outrageous DLC price however.

    Yep im with the majority here. i wanted to love this game so much after prematurely trading in the 1st modern warfare for WaW and well first there was all the cheating and exploits and still that "im sure i was behind the solid object" but the killcam shows im not senario along with the way to strong constant aim assist. And now they are charging a fortune for a few new maps. It just makes me love battleifeld bc2 even more than i do, apart from the odd server disconnection that is :(

    Agrees with Von Adder also. Its funny cos MW1 is one of my all time fave games, how they managed to piss so many people off with the sequel is amazing. So glad BC2 came to kick its ass.

    It's a fair comment, why only do this on the consoles? Well I suppose there has to be a price to pay for having better graphics and a vastly superior control system on the PC.

    Double XP weekend? Cue the spastics running "double XP Prestige lobbies" and sending yokel voice messages to anyone who owns an xbox all weekend. Who gives a shit what peculiar little medal you have next to your gamertag anyway, beyond me.

    In addition, BFBC 2 does indeed own that shower of shite. Kudos to Dice.
