Modern Warfare 2 DLC named News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

10 March, 2010

Activision has said that the Modern Warfare 2 DLC announced this week is called "Stimulus Package". It's out on 30th March.

To celebrate, Xbox Live Silver members will be able to play Modern Warfare 2 online between 12th March and 15th March in the hope their heads and credit cards will be turned enough to splurge on a Gold sub.

Earlier this week developer Infinity Ward said Modern Warfare 2 had been played online by 25 million people since its launch last November.

Stimulus? Economic stimulus, per chance? Objective is to kill as many hard-working members of the public, to reduce the burden on the public purse?

It was originally called "Royalties Package" but Kotick nixed that idea.

Can't see me ever picking up MW2 again to be honest. BFBC2 is a better game in every way imaginable.

Was going to ask if this particular round of comments could be spared the "no one cares, BF:BC2 is here!!11"-esque comments.

Too late!

"Stimulate Activision's pocket"

Wait...you can't possibly be accusing Activision of wanting to make money?!

'Stimulus Package'? Fuck off you arrogant pricks, IW.

And Eurogamer - do you really think this deserves a news item to itself?

Sold it anyway.
Paid for Battlefield Bad Company 2 with the proceeds.

Did you know that Kot is the formal German term for feces? Kotig actually translates as "covered in feces". I am not making this up.

Fuck me that IS shocking.

I was always under the impression that Microsoft wanted silver subs to be rounded up into camps and gassed in the showers.

Woe betide the poor silver members who get their first experience of multiplayer over Live through MW2, arguably a bigger wasteland of cunts than Halo.

@Deckard: I'd argue that MW2 has better infantry combat, but BC2 is better overall for its combined arms approach. The same was true back in the old days of CoD1 vs BF1942.

I am not trying to jump on the BF:BC2 bandwagon , but...I was talked into buying it at the weekend and initially thought to myself what is all the fuss about, I was being killed left right and centre, and on MW2 I was at least able to hold my own (ish), After a few hours play and STILL being completely shit, I realized one thing ..all the time when playing BF:BC2 i was ENJOYING it , however bad I was it is just a lot more fun than MW2.

Yesterday I got FF13 for £4 after trading in MW2 (thanks gamestation, and price matching Asda), in fact I got close to the same money back that I paid for the game originally.

So I wont be buying the mappack, and I am sure others will soon realize there is a premium trade in value on this MW2 still and some other great games to replace it with.

What's the betting it'll be two new maps and one rehashed from COD4 for the princely sum of 800 MS points. Meh!
The last lot of DLC for COD4 didn't add anything to the game and I doubt this will either.

I've got a nice round 1,000 gamerpoints for MW2 and I think that will do me nicely.

I'm afraid, probably like everyone else I'm having too much fun on BF:BC2. Now if I could only fly those helicopters.

Had enough of paying for DLC. So back to PC for me. My xbox live is now silver. Fed up with being dry humped for new maps and shite. BFBC 2 was my turning point. By the looks of how many servers are up for pc gamers, its not just me ;)
