Miyamoto mentions new hardware
Also, new MotionPlus game.
Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that Nintendo is developing new gaming hardware.
The legendary designer mentioned that a new console is on the way when accepting a prize and the Japan Media Arts Festival at the weekend, according to Andriasang (translated from 4gamer).
Miyamoto offered no further specifics. It's not uncommon for Nintendo executives to reassure fans and investors that it's working on new machines, while talk of a high-definition Wii and motion-sensing DS has been doing the rounds recently, although company chief Satoru Iwata has distanced himself from both.
Meanwhile, the father of Mario also mentioned that he's working on a new game for the Wii's MotionPlus peripheral. Although Wii Sports Resort was a hit last year, MotionPlus games are still few and far between, with not much to look forward to beyond Red Steel 2 and the next Zelda, which may not even be released this year.
For more from Miyamoto, including how the inveterate pet-lover was inspired to make Super Mario Galaxy by a hamster, check out the Andriasang article.

Precisely, this is no more news than "Opel working on new car" is. Of course they're working on a new car, they make cars, what else would they be doing? Give us specific information and it'll become news.

I am not talking about the wii owning gamers out there because let's face it gamers make up a serious minority of wii owners.
Er, if a wii owner hasn't connected their wii online then what exactly do you think they're doing with it other than playing games? Watching DVDs? How is someone who is only using a device made to play games to play games not a gamer exactly?

Really, Really, do not want.
Seriously that sounds like the worst idea I've ever heard
As for the new wii, I don't really expect anything too radical to change. If they can make money with last gen hardware, why would they go all out for the next gen?

I'd like to give you a "+" for the first part and a "-" for the second.
I don't think Nintendo is manufactuing only last gen. They came up first with touch panel hardware and with wii. Other companies often try to improve their machines' graphics and put more high-end stuff in, but that doesn't make them "innovative".
