Mirror's Edge gets release date
Plus: demo due before launch.
EA has announced a release date for the console versions of Mirror's Edge.
The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will launch on 14th November, and pre-orders will begin next Friday 26th September.
EA is also planning a demo before release, which will feature the game's prologue, including the tutorial and a taster of the single-player story mode.
Plus, if you pre-order the game at "selected retailers", you'll get an exclusive code to unlock the demo's time trial mode. Then you can upload your fastest times to the leaderboards, and compete against your friends' ghosts.
So what of the PC version? According to EA, it'll be out "later in the winter". There's no word on when we can expect to see that exclusive downloadable content for the PS3 version, either, but we'll keep you posted.

I can heartily recommend playing a demo of EndWar. I was in the beta and so glad of it - cancelled my pre-order at the end of it...
OT - awesome and unexpected news! Shall await with baited breath.

Still, I guess the PS3 owners will need something else other than LBP to keep them occupied over the festive season.

Not so pleased with the release date though, right slap bang in the middle of the Saints Row 2/ Fable 2/ Dead Space/ Fallout 3/ Left 4 Dead/ Banjo: N&B avalanche of games. Just as well I got a raise yesterday!

From what I've played, I can't really say anything other than the fact it plays really smoothly, someone tried to interview me and that was about all I could come up with XD

Oh and I too was involved in the EndWar beta... besides the constant disconnecting of losing opponents it was still pretty shitty! Bring on World in Conflict.

I wouldn't get too excited. I doubt their main concern with the demo is not boring people who've played it at games shows. That's what the full game is for.

Plus I like platforming. Never been done well in FP, but if it ends up anything like prince of persia (in terms of flow, and breathtakingness), it could be brilliant. Demo much needed still!

It seems you can now preorder it with a wicked looking free medium or large Mirror's Edge t-shirt.

The demo is definitely due out before launch, though.

I'm surprised it's coming out so soon after being shown for the 1st time, though. I guess they're not going the Sony route of showing a game 10 years before release?

Well for about a decade everyone was obsessed w/ pretending to be a free running english girl by way of the Tomb Raider series. Not really so different.
If you don't like games where you run and jump and climb, then yeah, I guess this'd amount to a lot of hype. Lately I've gotten a lot of mileage out of Tomb Raider Legend and Anniversary, so I'm really looking forward to this.

Disagree.
The new COD is an "odd year" one.. i.e. one NOT made by infinity ward.. and subsequently likely to be shit
And GoW2.. Well the first one was (imho) overrated shit.. But then i'm in the minority there i know!
But Mirrors Edge is .. different...
I'd buy it over the other 2 in a flash.. that's IF it turns out to be as good as im hoping.. (big IF, most games nowadays seem to never live up to their hype.. GoW, halo3 bioshock, etc are - to me and this is JUST my opinion - all distinctly Average when compared to a "true" great game like Cod4 or Skate)

I'm speaking from a business perspective. You may know that CoD:WaW is an odd-year CoD (I probably won't be buying it either), you may think GoW is overrated shit (you are very much in the minority here), but the general games buying public is going to see two sequels to huge shooter franchises, versus some unknown new IP where you play a girl who doesn't even use guns most of the time.
It won't make it any worse a game, but it regardless of any critical acclaim it does or doesn't get, it may not do as well commercially as it would have.

I'm proud to be in that minority!
