Miis in Mario & Sonic Olympics News

SEGA has said you will be able to play as your Mii avatar in any of the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games events.

It also revealed a special series of Dream Events that will let you collect power-ups as you compete, enabling you to do all sorts of unrealistic things in a colourful, fantasy universe.

Dream Race takes place on the Sandhill course and is an intense leg-pounder for you and up to three friends. Dream Platform, on the other hand, is a diving event that starts 10,000 meters in the air; as you descend you will need to perform tricks and plough through hoops, all while avoiding obstacles and baddies.

Or you can try a little sword swishing in Dream Fencing down on the old Duel Wharf Fencing Bench, where special attacks are the order of the day. And finally, if none of that takes your fancy, then you can smash balls around in a sci-fi table tennis match, calling on more special abilities to make your opponent look silly.

The Dream Events join a whole host of realistic Olympic pursuits in the full game. Particularly enlightening is the rowing, which has a rather unique and unforgettable motion to replicate with the Wiimote. Wink, nudge.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is due out in Europe on 23rd November, and in the first quarter of next year on DS.

So you can race you Mii against Sonic and Mario? Excellent.

Sega should really play up that aspect in the ads.

Given the choice I would play as my Mii every time.

I expect most people would do the same - or am I stange

I'd love to see stylized Miis for games though, so they wont stand out too much from the other characters as they are likely to do in this game

Putting Miis in is a great move. They're woefully underused at the moment and this (for some reason) actually makes me more interested in Mario & sonic than I was before.

Is anyone else starting to think the Mii's 'low-fi' look is less 'low-fi' and more 'shit' as time goes on? Now that I've played MySims I want my Mii to look like that. At least then it wouldn't look out of place in Animal Crossing Wii....or as a fighting character for Smash Bros. O.O

What, you mean look like every other generic anime character out there?

The whole draw of the Miis is that you can make them look like absolutely anybody. Why the fuck would you want to turn it into a generic cartoon?

Are you kidding? The range of variety for a Mii is incredibly low. I've not even bothered adding half my mates as Miis as they all end up looking roughly the same. At least in MySims you can change a hell of a lot more, plus obviously there are alot more polys involved.

And as far as Anime is concerned - if you've got a problem with it, you probably shouldn't be playing a Japanese console. *shrug*

Haha, then that's because you suck at it.

No, I'm not kidding. Even some relatively talentless friends of mine have been able to make themselves look completely unique yet very recognisable. You must suck really hard. That or all your friends simply look the same.


I'm an anime fan btw, but that doesn't make your first comment any less stupid.
