Midnight Club: LA offering serious prizes News

PlayStation 3 Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

3 February, 2009

Rockstar will soon begin a year of Midnight Club: Los Angeles tournaments.

Winners can bag anything from Rockstar Warehouse vouchers to a year of free pizza at Pizza Hut. There's even a Kawasaki Ninja motorbike up for grabs. A ninja motorbike! Amazing!

Sign-ups for the very first tournament end Friday. From there, entrants will go through to four days of time trials (7th-10th February), hoping to qualify for the more serious round of head-to-head finals (12th-16th February).

Only C-Class cars are allowed, and time trials will be held on the Surf and Sand course. Head-to-heads will take place across a spread of stages: Old Route 66, Coldwater Canyon, Hollywood Drifts and Old Hollywood Shortcuts.

Grand prize for the PS3 and Xbox 360 winner will be USD 500 to spend at the Rockstar Warehouse. Second place will be given USD 100, while third and fourth will be gifted USD 50.

Most European and US countries are eligible for entry; a full list of rules can be found on the Rockstar Social Club site.

Think its an excellent tie in. It's all about the races MC:LA. Why be negative about them offering to give stuff away and providing a platform to play the game competitively?

Social club is nice to track stats and win the Audio A8 :)

Better not play the game at all, because it uses real car names and that is advertising for Dodge and Ford and Nissan and Audi! And don't play other racing games because all those billboards for sponsors is advertising for them too (in fact, do not watch televised sports at all). Don't play Call of Duty as that features real guns and is promoting their manufacturers (the next time you think of an assault rifle, think Heckler and Koch(tm)). Do you see?

I absolutely love Old Route 66.

Wonder if I can crack the times to get there?

Gonna register, and find out.

I'm already a member of the Social Club, of course, from GTA IV, where I tracked my Team Mafiya Work stats obsessively, for a while.

Also, a few of us 360 MC:LA owners might be trying to get a game together in the near future, for anyone who fancies trying the online.
